17.01.2022 Are you working from home? Is your work place set up correctly? Make sure your work desk is set up properly to prevent any injuries. Poor posture places increased stress on certain muscles, joints and ligaments which can lead to muscle tightness, pain, headaches and generally feeling uncomfortable. So here are some top tips to help you set up your home office: 1. Relax your shoulders and neck but avoid slouching... 2. Place screen in front of you at arms length and below eye level 3. Place document holders/folders close to the screen at arms distance to avoid overstretching 4. Adjust lumbar support on chair so it is placed at the small of your back. If there is no lumbar support built in roll up a towel and place in the small of your back 5. Hips, knees and elbows should be at 90 degrees with hips just higher than knees 6. Adjust chair height so that your feet are flat on the floor. 7. Take mini breaks from your desk and stretch!!! Set alarms on your phone if you forget See more

05.01.2022 COVID-19 POST Dear Valued Clients, I hope you are all staying healthy (and sane) in this crazy world at the moment. I just wanted to reassure you that business is running as usual at Aspire Physiotherapy for the time being, we hope to remain so for the foreseeable future, (provided we don’t run out of toilet paper). As the clinic is a health facility and due to the close contact nature of our work, we already have infection control measures in place, to protect ourselves ...and our clients from the spread of infection. However, due to the recent outbreak of Covid-19, we have reviewed our cleaning policies and increased the frequency of cleaning of some high contact areas. To further reduce the risk of spreading infection between our staff and clients our Physio’s, Alyssa and Erin will soon be splitting shifts so they will no longer be in the clinic at the same time. This may require a bit of a reshuffle for some of our regular clients, but this should be minimal. In addition, we will be offering remote sessions via video-link in the coming weeks for those clients who are unable to make it into the clinic (or in case our physio’s get stuck at home). Please shoot us an email if you would like to enquire further about this. We would also like to remind clients of the following ways they can help prevent the spread of (any) infection at our clinic. 1. Please stay away from the clinic if: You are feeling unwell or have any of the following symptoms; Fever Cough Sore throat Shortness of breath OR Travelled to (including transited through) a country considered to pose a risk or coronavirus transmission in the previous 14 days OR Had close contact with someone diagnosed with or suspected of having coronavirus in the last 14 days 2. Wear socks during Pilates 3. Wash your hands with soap and water or use Hand sanitizer provided both before and after your session 4. Wash hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and water after using the toilet 5. Bring a small towel to lay your head on 6. Cover your cough and sneeze, dispose of tissues, and use alcohol-based hand sanitiser For the latest advice regarding coronavirus (Covid-19) please visit the Australian Government Department of Health Website: https://www.health.gov.au We will keep you updated on any further changes, but in the meantime, please stay healthy and look after each other. Kind Regards The Aspire Physiotherapy Team Erin, Alyssa and Kristina

04.01.2022 MYTHS IN PHYSIOTHERAPY Physiotherapy is only for injuries & accidents and when I am in pain? NO it is not only for injuries and accidents. In most cases, your injury is not actually coming from where it is sore but is a result of a fault in the way you move! ... Some people think physiotherapy is painful The no pain no gain mantra.. our job is to relieve pain and discomfort, so its in our best interest to keep you as comfortable as possible. Surgery is the only option especially for conditions like degenerative disc, rotator cuff tears and some forms of osteoarthritis NO Evidence shows that physiotherapy effectively treats all these conditions... and can sometimes PREVENT surgery! My joints crack all the time, is this normal? Most sounds that your body make are usually harmless if not accompanied by pain. A lot of these cracks/pops/snaps are simply tissue moving or rubbing across other tissue. Enough Massage will cure me of knots NO massage is only a short-term fix, if you do not continue to put the work in at home by stretching, the muscles will stiffness back up due to sustained postures or movements.
