18.01.2022 Congratulations Maria! Well deserved!

18.01.2022 Assisi residents getting creative! In response to Banyule Council's call for community involvement in this year's Carols by Candlelight art project, some of the residents were only too eager to participate, as the photos below will attest. The concentration is real!... The Banyule Carols by Candlelight this year will be an online event and the art project is one way the community can remain connected, especially at this time of the year. Residents immersed themselves in the 'Paper Stars Stage Decoration' portion of the project, where they were asked to create their own paper star, on which they would write their name and their Christmas wish. They will then be sent to the Arts and Culture team at Banyule, who will sew them together to form a star garland and use them to decorate the Christmas stage. See message below from Banyule Council if you would like to take part: We would love as much community engagement as possible in this virtual event and have two opportunities for you to get involved! 1. Paper Stars Stage Decoration Each person to create their own paper star and write your name and Christmas wish on it The paper stars can be any size or colour, and we will sew them together to form a star garland for the carols stage decoration Post your stars to: Banyule Arts & Culture Team, attention Anthea Fahey PO Box 94, Greensborough VIC 3088 2. Share Your Christmas Message Submit your Christmas message and wishes for our community; include your name, age and suburb The messages and wishes will be included in the final Carols by Candlelight video! 17.01.2022 Pastoral Care Week- 25/10-31/10/2020 Pastoral Care week was celebrated amongst residents and staff with special treats for all, culminating on Thursday with a special High Tea for our residents. As a Spiritual Care practitioner I am fortunate to work in a facility where my work and that of my Team is respected and called up... on each and every day both by residents and staff alike. Spiritual Care is provided in many different settings and is a service which is broad as far as the care we provide. I feel privileged and honoured to be able to provide spiritual support in this setting, amongst colleagues who are respectful and open to what Pastoral/Spiritual Care provides. Please enjoy the photos. Stay safe and take care of you Maria Alvaro

08.01.2022 Commemorating Remembrance Day 11/11/2020 at Assisi It is important to acknowledge the enormous sacrifices made by those who came before us. A short but moving service was organised by the Pastoral Care team to commemorate Remembrance Day and was attended by residents and staff.... Remembrance Day, which was originally called Armistice Day, commemorated the end of the hostilities for the Great War (World War I), the signing of the Armistice, which occurred on November 11, 1918 the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. On the first anniversary of the Armistice, in 1919, one minute’s silence was instituted as part of the main commemorative ceremony. After the end of World War II in 1945, the Australian and British Governments changed the name to Remembrance Day as an appropriate title for a day which would commemorate all war dead.

07.01.2022 Assisi Fashionistas Friday happy hour has become quite the anticipated event, which nicely rounds off the week. The team, always looking for ways to excite and engage the residents, organised a fashion parade last week, complete with a red carpet runway.... It didn't take long for residents to let their guards down and proceed to sashay down that runway, some adding their own particular flavour. Everyone had such a great time! Tony Bernardo, completely in his element as the master of ceremonies...As Cameron says..."someone give that man his own show"! Who knows what the next happy hour will bring! I hope you enjoy the photos! Gemma
