20.01.2022 Our Marine Room children (4-5 years old) love signing in every morning when they arrive! This experience allows our children to build stronger sense of belonging into their learning community and their room. Also our Kinder children develop their literacy skills through name recognition and letter knowledge! #childcare #explore #earlychildhood #earlylearning #family #community #children #education #sensoryplay #educator #playbasedlearning #cityofportphillip #portmelbourne #reggioinspired #eylf #enrolment #tourtoday #openday #supportlocal

16.01.2022 I have some exciting news to share! Firstly though, let me explain how it came about You see, I feel honoured to be the person others call when they’re a littl...e unsure about how to help their kids. I happily take calls from family, friends or school parents in need of a bit of reassurance or some practical suggestions. Often the concerns they have about their children aren’t enough to warrant seeing someone professionally, but they still feel a bit lost. So they’ve called me for a chat. After a few of these calls recently, I started thinking about all the parents who don’t have a child psychiatrist or parenting specialist among their circle of friends Perhaps that’s you? If so, who can you chat to, when you’re in need of a little guidance? Well I’m delighted to now offer an answer to that question me! Starting next month, I’ll be setting aside some time each week to offer informal phone sessions for parents. These aren’t medical appointments; I’ll simply be chatting with you, not assessing your child, so I can’t give advice on diagnosis or medication for your child. But hopefully I can still be of help. Think of these sessions like the chat you’d have with a friend, if you happened to have a friend who was a child psychiatrist/parenting expert If that sounds like something that might help you or perhaps someone in your circle, here’s the link to find out more - https://adoseofawesomeness.com/book-a-chat/ Of course, my advice packs remain available too (https://adoseofawesomeness.com/product-catego/advice-packs/) - these may cover what you’re after. But with limited phone sessions available, I wanted to let you know, in case your concerns aren’t covered in these online resources. I'd be grateful if you could please share this post among your networks so that it can reach everyone who needs to see it. Thank you everyone, Dr Kaylene Henderson - Child Psychiatrist

05.01.2022 Chief Health Officer Advice: Viral gastro outbreak There has been an increase in viral gastroenteritis in childcare centres - here is what you need to know to p...rotect about protecting yourself and your family. Symptoms can take up to three days to develop and usually last one or two days, sometimes longer. Watch out for: Nausea Vomiting Diarrhoea Fever Abdominal pain Headache Muscle aches Kids with any of these symptoms should stay home while sick and for 48 hours after their symptoms have stopped. If symptoms persist - visit your GP. Gastro is highly infectious, so hygiene is particularly important. Remember: Washing hands with soap and water is the best way to prevent infection - alcohol hand sanitisers, while effective against some viruses such as coronavirus, are not effective against gastroenteritis. If someone in your household is sick, thoroughly clean and sterilise the areas where they have been sick to protect the other people in your house.
