If a mask is not worn by a parent/carer, entry will not be permitted and the child will be collected by a staff member at the front door. This is to ensure we do what we can to stop the spread. Please refer to the email sent if further detail is required. *Temperature checks will resume as normal.

25.01.2022 Magic garden potion. Spending time outdoors in nature has a positive influence on emotional and physical wellbeing for both children and adults. A favourite sensory activity with the children is providing them with the resources to engage their creative mind to imagine, develop and grow with their ideas. Check out the outdoor magic potion setup at Kids' Early Learning Riverstone. The beautiful weather has welcomed more outdoor time and more flowers! We have enjoyed pro...viding the children with more natural elements from the yard as they mix, bubble, cook and create their own scents and potions. Check out our quick fact sheet for something you could do with your children in your own yard.

24.01.2022 Robot friends The children at Farzana's Family Day Care got together and made use of some recyclable goods. Using cardboard boxes, paint and crafts they each created their own robotic friends! Recycling and learning about its importance shows children how we can save resources and reduce our impact on our environment. At Kids' Early Learning we encourage our families to try to explore craft ideas with your children using waste material. You can try and encourage this by col...lecting items from around your home and sorting out your rubbish before it goes out for collection. 22.01.2022 Health alert NSW Health has issued a warning to all parents who have young children at childcare centres across the state, as there has been a high number of children under the age of five who have contracted gastroenteritis (also known as gastro). Symptoms of viral gastroenteritis include nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, fever, abdominal pain, headache and muscle aches. They can take up to three days to develop and usually last between one or two days, sometimes longer.... Advice from NSW Health: Infants or children in childcare or school who develop vomiting or diarrhoea should stay home for at least 48 hours after their symptoms have stopped. All of our Kids' Early Learning services will communicate updates to their families as required, this is merely to inform our families and communities to look out for any symptoms and follow the advice from NSW Health.

20.01.2022 Remembrance Day At the 11th hour, on the 11th day, of the 11th month, we will remember them Originally known as Armistice Day, Remembrance Day is observed on 11 November and marks the signing of the peace agreement between Germany and the Allies that ended the Great War of 1914-1918.... The Second World War began just 21 years later. Almost a million Australians served during that conflict lasted close to six years. Armistice Day was then renamed Remembrance Day. Now Remembrance Day is a day to remember and honour all Australians who have served, to stop at 11am for one minute of silence to remember those who served during the First World War and those who have died in conflicts since. You can view the livestream of the service held today in Sydney's Martin Place from 10.30am here: https://youtu.be/IlqLnE27OPs "They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them."

20.01.2022 NAIDOC Week (8-15 November 2020). Kids' Early Learning Family Day Care have been busy participating in activities around the passing NAIDOC Week. From stimulated set-ups, arts and crafts and damper making, the children participated in a series of different activities celebrating the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.... Damper, also known as bush bread or seedcake, is a European term that refers to bread made by Australian Aborigines for many thousands of years. Damper is made by crushing a variety of native seeds, and sometimes nuts and roots, into a dough and then baking the dough in the coals of a fire. How to make damper: Ingredients 250 g self-raising flour 1/2 tsp salt 25g unsalted butter, chilled and cubed 175 ml milk Method Mix the flour with the salt in a large bowl. Add the butter and rub it into the flour with the tips of your fingers, until it resembles fine crumbs. Stir in the milk with a round blade knife (butter knife) to make a soft, but not sticky dough. Turn out onto a lightly floured work surface and shape into a soft, smooth ball. Set the ball of dough onto a tray or baking sheet and flatten gently to make a round about 17cm across. Cut a deep cross in the dough and brush lightly with milk. I also dust a little flour on each damper. Bake at 190C for 30 minutes until golden. Serve warm or at room temperature. *Photos from Kids' Early Learning Family Day Care Educators Lorraine, Amandeep, Ana and Bannafarzana. *Recipe from Kids' Early Learning Family Day Care Educator Lorraine

They discussed the concept of weight and put it into scale as they weighed themselves. Shocked at the actual weight of elephants many had seen at the zoo. 18.01.2022 International Talk Like a Pirate Day Last week we participated in some fun for a good cause. International Talk Like a Pirate Day helps raise much needed funds and awareness for childhood brain cancer. The day is also recognised nationally as the major fundraiser for Childhood Cancer Support. The children enjoy any opportunity to dress up and explore new characters and personalities. It encourages creative play and allows us all to stop, have fun and learn more about why we p...articipate in days like this. Extending on the theme many of our services included 'pirate' activities such as treasure hunts, role play (walking the plank!), books and tailored crafts. The treasure hunt in particular was a hit, the children thoroughly enjoyed working together as a team to navigate themselves around the yard. They followed the numbered visuals to dig where 'X marks the spot'! Good job maties! *Photos from Kids' Early Learning Kings Langley South, Lalor Park, Willmot and Dean Park.

13.01.2022 Letter recognition Alphabetic recognition is sometimes called letter recognition or letter identification, but all three terms have the same meaning - the ability to visually recognise letters of the alphabet through hands-on learning. Letter recognition is important because it enables the children to begin to make the phonic connection between printed text and the spoken language.... Family Day Care Educator Pooja extended on recent lessons on learning about the letter 'A' by welcoming children to identify and circle the letter in some reading material found easily in the home. A great simple and effective activity strengthening a child's cognitive recall and alphabetic association. Why not grab some magazines at home and try this!

10.01.2022 Say No to Domestic Violence - Knit Bomb our City! Since August across Kids' Early Learning we have been knitting for a cause. Blacktown City Council's Knit Bomb our City campaign has been an effective way to unite with our families and our communities for a cause dear to our hearts. Confronting facts around family, domestic and sexual violence in Australia:... - 1 in 6 women and 1 in 16 men in Australia have experienced physical or sexual violence from a current or previous cohabiting partner. - 25% of women and 5% of men have experienced emotional abuse form a current or previous cohabiting partner. - 17 adults were hospitalised every day in 2016-17 due to assault by a partner or other family member. - 1 women is killed every 9 days and 1 man is killed ever 29 days by a partner. On Wednesday 11 November we held the Kids' Early Learning Knit Bomb installation. With lots of appreciated contributions from our KEL families, educators and management team we joined to install the knitted goods and reflect on the purpose of the campaign. 09.01.2022 Recycling Teaching children to care for the environment is a learning experience that is an important part of growing up. It gives them skills in respect, empathy, patience, responsibility, and teaches them about consequences. But it also teaches them valuable lessons about sustainability and how we want to leave the world for future generations. Showing children how to recycle properly is like passing the baton to them for a cleaner and brighter future. The children from ...Kids' Early Learning Kings Langley East focused on recycling and environmentally friendly activities to celebrate National Recycling Week (8-14 November 2020). 04.01.2022 Getting those veggies in! The children at Kids' Early Learning Hassall Grove have been interested in (who blames them) pizza! They spoke about how sometimes they eat it at home and help their parents make special pizzas with 'all colours of the rainbow'. A common concern with children is that they don't eat much, don't eat nutritionally dense foods and that they are fussy. These are all too common but rest assure, many children grow out of these habits and begin to eat mor...e as they get older and acquire a better appreciation of food - likes and dislikes. A great way to try to get your child to eat new foods is to get them involved. Pizza making is a great easy, versatile and healthy option for children to try. Let them join you in the kitchen or outdoors (try a new setting) in creating their own dish which they'll hopefully have a bite of. For more tips for fussy eaters read https://raisingchildren.net.au//common-concer/fussy-eating

02.01.2022 eSafety Preschoolers learn by interacting with the world around them. They need to be physically active to run, climb, and swing on the playground and to have creative outlets like drawing or dress-up. Time spent with screens (like a TV, tablet, or smartphone) can be an opportunity to reinforce learning and promote creative play. But too much screen time can have unhealthy side effects.... Have you tried implementing a tech agreement in your home? This a great way to have structured screen time and rules in place. https://www.esafety.gov.au//children/family-tech-agreement
