23.01.2022 A big thank you to everyone who recently supported ASVA at Grilld in Browns Plains by putting your tokens in our jar. We ended up coming in 3rd place which mea...ns that we raised $100. So we certainly cant complain about that! To show our appreciation, we will be using that $100 to host a BBQ for student veterans and their families on Saturday 1 July in New Farm Park, Brunswick Street, Brisbane. All food and soft drink will be provided free of charge (feel free to BYO alcoholic beverages). The BBQ will be a great opportunity to network with other student veterans from Brisbane and the Gold Coast, so make sure you drop in and say hello! We look forward to seeing you there. Cheers, ASVA Team

23.01.2022 Australia's biggest student employability initiative has been launched on the Coast. www.7News.com.au #7News

20.01.2022 ASVA members were very glad to be guests tonight at the Giffith University Friends of the Library documentary event. Adele Bennett, Griffith alumnus and filmmaker presents the Sixty Feet of Freedom project. The film documents three injured veterans as they face their fears and take on the challenge of scuba diving. With Petit St. Vincent in The Grenadines as a backdrop, these heroes are given a passport to another world where their injuries and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) are weightless. This film showcases and explores how scuba diving can be a means of therapy for those suffering from PTSD.

13.01.2022 Big announcement! With our partners at La Trobe University, we are about to begin a national research project into veteran education in Australia! This project is backed by the federal government and will be invaluable to our community. For the first time, we will have a data-based platform to advocate for tertiary support, services and opportunities for veterans from the institutional to legislative level, nationwide. If youd like to participate via interview or survey, please inbox us or comment - your support is what will make this a success! Tag your mates, too! Thanks!

07.01.2022 Were incredibly excited to announce that ASVA has officially received charitable status from the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC). Th...e ACNC is the independent national regulator of charities and is responsible for maintaining, protecting and enhancing public trust and confidence in the not-for-profit sector through increased accountability and transparency. Its important to note that not all not-for-profits tick the boxes to receive charity status so we are incredibly proud of our team for putting in the time and effort over the past six months to ensure ASVAs compliance with ACNC governance standards. To find out more about ASVAs charitable status visit https://www.acnc.gov.au/RN52B75Q
