24.01.2022 Some before and afters of the recent Gabion Wall job in Whitfield, no wonder the previous timber wall was collapsing as they had no drainage installed, no membrane and the supports weren't even concreted into the ground, just bolted to the face of the wall, we also found that the channel grate drain from the lawn area that was supposedly connected to the drain on the patio was not, even though they had previously paid landscapers to do that, fairly typical of Cairns. #gabionwall #Cairns #whitfield #tropicallandscaping #farnorthqueensland #structurallandscaping #happyclient @ Whitfield

24.01.2022 What happens when people build timber retainer walls with no drainage, they collapse and cost homeowners thousands of dollars to remove and re-build with a durable material, a few pictures from the recent block wall job, if you're building a retainer wall with timber in the tropics make sure it's done properly, otherwise you could wake up with it crashing against your house, as this particular client did on Christmas day. 21.01.2022 A fix up job in Redlynch Valley, unfortunately the client initially paid a gardener to build the two retainer walls, it was a disaster, always get the right trade for the job, you wouldn't get a chef to fix your car, the wall was almost collapsing even without backfill and the drainage he had got for the job was nowhere near suitable. We concreted galvanised steel supports along the face of the walls, installed the appropriate drainage and backfill, and removed an old deck for her, it was a costly lesson to learn but at least now she can relax knowing her wall won't collapse into her swimming pool. #redlynchvalley #Cairns #tropicallandscaping #farnorthqueensland #landscaping #retainerwall #fixupjob

It's amazing what some people think they can get away with, these dodgy tradies who classed themselves as landscapers left this poor woman in her 70s with by far the worst attempt of besser block laying I've ever seen, they haven't even used mortar, they've stack bonded and core filled with soil, a 5 year old after 10 minutes of playing with Lego would know this is wrong, the client got in contact with me after they had finished and now we have given her a structurally sound product that can be safely accessed and utilised as well as looking great, plus it didn't cost much more than this dodgy job. 06.01.2022 Pool coping fully restored after some clearly unprofessional people installed it previously using the wrong ratios with no waterproofing agents or appropriate bonding agents which allowed it to just fall apart, now the clients can rest assured they finally have a durable product that can be utilised for its purpose without hazardous consequences or damage, I keep seeing poor quality pool coping in Mount Sheridan, hopefully these cowboys aren't still active.
