25.01.2022 As we find in so many circumstances, an explanation of an observable Physical concept will require a basic understanding of molecules. Lets teach this as young as we can!
25.01.2022 What an honour!
25.01.2022 World Science Festival Brisbane is sharing information about Molecules! Take your Primary Students who know all about this after watching our Atomic School Youtube Videos and our Online Lessons :)
24.01.2022 A true honour to be able to share ideas with Sir John Holman recently...
23.01.2022 What a great experience for these students and for us!

22.01.2022 This is a fun way to explore the Elements of the Periodic Table with your children or students. Manipulate the electrons, protons and neutrons to build your element. Thanks for the share Wendy! https://archive.ansto.gov.au/static/atombuilder/

21.01.2022 A great opportunity for Brisbane based Primary School teachers. World Science Festival Brisbane
20.01.2022 The third video in the series about the physics of waves. This video explains the Wave Equation in a way we can all follow and understand. https://youtu.be/E4NW4p8kHkI
18.01.2022 https://youtu.be/REJUCY71Q_s In just over 5 minutes, look inside atoms to see where atoms get their mass, and how their Atomic Number is equal to the number of protons in their nucleus. This shows how an atom is made of 3 kinds of smaller particles- protons and neutrons in the nucleus, and electrons orbiting in shells outside. The nucleus is incredibly small in comparison to the size of the overall atom, which means that most of an atom is empty space. The discovery of nuclear protons and how to count them, by the brilliant English physicist Henry Moseley in 1913 is explored. Finally, the video explains the what an element is like- for example, hydrogen being an explosive gas- is simply due to the fact that it has one proton in its nucleus.
18.01.2022 This video explores the masses of the sub-atomic particles to show that only the protons and neutrons are responsible for 99.99% of the atoms mass. This is because the electrons mass is only 1/1836 th of their mass in comparison. On the other hand, the electrons shells are responsible for the vast majority of the atoms size. The video also shows how we can work out how many neutrons are in a particular kind of atom, based on the difference between the Relative Atomic Mass and its Atomic Number; both of which are readily available from the Periodic Table. You will take a journey to seven different elements on the Periodic Table- hydrogen, helium, lithium, fluorine, scandium, chromium and zinc, and discover how to work out the number of neutrons that each has in its nucleus. You, too, can become a nuclear scientist!

16.01.2022 Year 2 students in #MudgeerabaCreekStateSchool, Queensland, Australia were keen to share their knowledge of chemical formulas with their teacher Mrs #MeganHayes. They made some of the molecules most familiar to them using Atomic Schools unique Sticky Atoms designed especially for Primary School students needs.
15.01.2022 It is the time of year that many of our friends and followers spend time travelling. While you are out appreciating the wonders of our world, keep an eye out for mention of the elements that make them. Here we explore some of the natural wonders at Rotorua, New Zealand.
15.01.2022 Head to https://www.scienceweek.net.au/event/atoms-and-stardust/ to register for this online session Sunday August 23 3:30pm.
15.01.2022 https://youtu.be/ZqCnhulLA6Q Isotopes are atoms with the same number of protons, but with a different number of neutrons. The video explores the isotopes of other kinds of atoms, and how some are unstable, causing them to be radioactive. These radioisotopes disintegrate after a period of time, and change into another species, perhaps even a different kind of atom. The stable isotopes, as well as the radioisotopes, for all the known atoms in the Universe are also explored.

14.01.2022 The second video in a series of 3 (so far) on Waves. This will help students understand the Wave Equation. https://youtu.be/E4NW4p8kHkI
14.01.2022 Grade 4 class students in Australia reflect on their learning about atoms and molecules. Some of the things that captured their imagination: There are more atoms in a grain of sand than there are grains of sand on a whole beach! Atoms are very small. All atoms are different. Atoms are everything and make everything. Pb stands for Plumbum. Young students love this information.
12.01.2022 The DiscoveryLab Series https://www.facebook.com/woodfordfolkfestival/ is supported by an Advance Queensland Engaging Science Grant provided by the Queensland Government Sandra from https://www.facebook.com/theplantingfestival/ speaks with Ian Stuart about engaging young children in the learning of Atomic Theory. Ian's development of the Atomic School program and the Sticky Atoms resource, enable teachers and priamy school students to not only grasp, but also deeply enjoy learning about atoms and the molecules our very lives depend on. Follow Ian at https://www.facebook.com/AtomicSchool, https://www.instagram.com/AtomicSchools/ and https://twitter.com/atomicschools
