It was a day to celebrate womanhood and the various achievements of women throughout the world and in our more intimate communities. 20.01.2022 Tomorrow we will be starting our Triple P group in Auburn Public School. The Triple P group takes place on a weekly basis for 8 weeks and focuses on managing childrens behaviour and building the family relationship. Triple P has been developed by a group of phycologist and provides support with practical every day parenting. 20.01.2022 ADSI staff bags award Accessible Diversity Services Initiative Limited (ADSI) Youth Transition Support Worker, Alison Jones has been awarded the 2020 Westfield Parramatta Local Hero award. Westfield Local Heroes are nominated and voted for by their communities and Alison was among the three-top finalist per Westfield centre. Alison Marie Jones works with newly arrived refugee youth and goes above and beyond to help them access employment and education opportunities in Austral...ia. Starting a refugee Learn to Swim school is not in Alison's job description, but it is one of her many standout achievements. The program provides Islamic girls with a private and safe space to learn to swim, socialise and improve their physical and emotional wellbeing. It also caters for boys. Several students have trained as swimming instructors, and 15 have been employed so far. For most, it is their first job in Australia.

16.01.2022 Auburn Diversity Services reaches out to Lidcombe shoppers. ADSi staff last week made a visit at the Lidcombe shopping centre to promote and have charts with shoppers about the organisational service deliveries.It was a huge success as Staff found out that majority of the shoppers had either benefited directly or indirectly from either programs or activities the organisation are providing for refugees/ migrants who just arrived in Australia within five years. Some of the shoppers were thrilled to know that there are services that can assist refugees/ Migrants to help settled in Australia. Recent arrivals promised to visit the centre for further discussions on what assistant they may need from the organisation.

The program consists of three seminars where parents can develop new strategies to deal with their childrens behaviours and emotions. Unlike our other parenting programs 123 Magic will take place after hours (5-7pm) so that parents who work can also participate. 12.01.2022 Nepalese Community Consultation held Auburn Diversity Services Inc (ADSi) held its first community consultation with the Nepalese Community on Thursday the 12 March, 2020 at ADSi office, 17 Macquarie Road, Auburn to have an indebt knowledge of the Nepalese Community in Cumberland Local Government Area. Members who came from Auburn, Lidcombe and the surrounding suburbs spoke on some of the issues/ concerns that are affecting their community which includes Language barrier, Pa...renting, access to local services, Health and Wellbeing and others. In his remarks, the Project Officer, Rishi Acharya thanked members for clearly outlining the issues within the community and also to seek for assistance in addressing these issues. The Project Officer added that his organisation will do all it takes by working together with the community to help alleviate the issues raised. He called on them to keep the unity already in existence in the community.

12.01.2022 ADSi holds AGM Auburn Diversity Services (ADSi) today November 15, 2019 held its Annual General Meeting at the organisational headquarters at 17 Macquarie Road, Auburn. In his opening remarks, the CEO, Frank Zheng expressed his sincere gratitude to the Board, Staff, funding bodies, community partners and volunteers for their valuable support towards the growth of the organisation at all times. The CEO noted that ADSi is a valued and purpose-based organisation which delivers ...best outcomes for clients. He added that it will continually focus on viability and growth of the organisation. Even though there are changes vs challenges, he is of the firm belief that with cooperation of all and sundry, the organisation will remain functional and profitable. The Chairman of the Board, Sarjoh Bah joined the CEO in thanking his fellow Board Members, Staff, Funding Bodies, Community Partners and volunteers for their tireless efforts in seeing ADSi grow to where it is today. He called on Staff to be creative as the sector is taking a different dimension as compared to the last ten years. 11.01.2022 Nepalese community hangs head with ADSi staff Auburn Diversity Services Inc. (ADSi) recently held a joint meeting with the Nepalese Reference group to discuss the way forward on issues affecting their community on the 20 February, 2020 at ADSi office, Macquarie Road in Auburn. The Project Officer at ADSi, Rishi Acharya explained to the Nepalese Community members about the Settlement Innovation Fund (SIF) project, the formation of a Reference Group their roles and responsibil...ities and also the upcoming community consultation where in members will be in the position to identify all issues and common interest. The Project Officer added that is a joint project between Auburn Diversity Services (ADSi) and Advance Diversity Services (ADS) in order to explore innovative ways to provide migrant and refugee settlement services to the Nepalese community in the Auburn (Cumberland Council) catchment area noting that Auburn now has the largest population of Nepali-speakers in Australia. This special project aims to provide core settlement support and identify gaps in service provision, and offer practical face-to-face support to the Nepalese community members.

09.01.2022 Nepalese community tour Library The Nepalese Community in Auburn and its surroundings yesterday, October 22 took a tour at the Auburn Library jointly organised by the Accessible Diversity Services Initiative Limited (ADSI) and the management of Auburn Library. The tour was geared to for the community to fully understand the essence of making use of their local library in terms of accessing books, videos and other journals in their local dialects. During the tour they were pro...vided with useful information on what the Library could offer them and the entire community by making use of the different facilities within the Library. The Community in response requested the Management of the Library to establish a section for the collection of Nepalese kid’s story books and other items. The Management promised to do more by noting that for the first time they have secured Nepali books from the New South Wales State Library which they hope will continue. Nepalese community are the fastest growing emerging community in Australia and according to 2016 census Nepalese are among the five largest ancestries in Auburn. See more

08.01.2022 Accessible Diversity Services Initiative (ADSI) organized a Information session on Australian Aged Care System for Nepalese Community at Auburn on Thursday 28 January 2021. The purpose of this session was to provide information to people who are wanting to know how to access Aged Care Services such as Community transport, Domestic assistance, Personal care, allied Health and much more. This session was facilitated by Multicultural Access Project Officer Sora Machida from Cu...mberland Hospital-Western Sydney Local Health District. A total of 9 Nepalese aged individuals who attended this session learnt about Aged Care Service, referral and assessment process and the support which are accessible to older people in the comfort of their own home or in an aged care (nursing) Facility. Kristina Ho, Aged Care Liaison & Support Worker shared what ADSI offers to the elderly and people with disabilities and their families. A lot of Positive Feedback was received from participants who joined this session as they found it very informative and helpful.

06.01.2022 The family team has been running information sessions for the kindergarten transition in Auburn Public School for eight weeks and last Friday participated in the Kindergarten Orientation. During the Orientation the CAPS worker was able to provide parents with advice and tips for a smooth transition and routine setting with children. Simultaneously, the TEIP worker supported the children starting school through some early literacy activities. Over 60 families attended the orientation and are excited for their children to start Kindy in 2020.

06.01.2022 Auburn Diversity Services in partnership with Dooleys Catholic Club and Service for the Treatment and Rehabilitation for Torture and Trauma Survivors (STARTTS) over the weekend organised a two -day training on Suicide Prevention and Anger Management for African Leaders from 12 Nationalities at the at MERCURE KOOINDAH WATERS, 40 Kooindah Boulevard, Wyong . The initiative was derived from series of Consultations by the African Well being Learning Cycle Community Leaders held at STARTTS office in Auburn.

06.01.2022 ADSi, in partnership with local child service providers, government agencies and schools, successfully organized the 10th Paint Auburn Read Auburn Reading Day on 16th October 2019. Paint Auburn REad scheme is a community literacy initiative aiming to raise awareness of the importance of reading to children and encourage everyone to regularly sing, read and rhyme with children from the time they are born. Hundreds of children and their parents from local communities, kinderga...rtens and child care centres attended the educational and enjoyable event this year. Mr Justin Han, Capacity Building Manager of ADSi welcomed everyone attending the event and said that ADSi, as community based not for profit organization is committed to actively raising the quality of life of every child and wants all children to achieve their full potentials. Mr Han also thanked Dooleys Lidcombe Catholic Club for the its sponsorship for this wonderful event for the last few years. The event started at Auburn Town Hall with storytelling, rhyme reading, games and performances. Then children and parents, organized in groups, walked along Auburn Road, reading stories displayed on windows of shops. The event concluded at Auburn Central with more stories and entertainment, including a performance from the Auburn West Public School drumming group and talks by Royal Life Saving and Auburn Police. ADSi was happy to have Valentina Hazell, A/Manager and Kristen Vine, Commissioning and Planning Officer from NSW Department of Communities and Justice attending the event and Valentina facilitating an interactive game with participants. Mr Jayaraman Guruswami, ADSi board member and Mr Greig Cummings, Councillor of Cumberland Council also attended the event. ADSi Family worker Sherbanu Oomatia, the coordinator of the event said there were 16 local businesses took part in the event and a good number of local service providers, governments agencies and schools partnered with ADSi and supported and contributed to the event. The trainer was Dr. Mark Weston Wall who has vast exp...erience and knowledge in the field of Leadership and Project management during his time in the Military and also as an academician Dr. Weston said Leadership is about getting people to comprehend and believe in the vision you set for the community and to work with you on achieving your goals, while management is more about administering and making sure the day-to-day activities are happening as they should. He added Project management is the process of leading the work of a team to achieve goals and meet success criteria at a specified time.
