09.01.2022 Hello! A few of you are new to my page so I just wanted to introduce myself. But first of all, I want to say thank you for taking interest in my work! I’m Aurelie, a graphic designer and lettering artist based on the Gold Coast, Australia. I started drawing letters and designing logos before I even knew what it was called. I got properly introduced to the art of typography while studying at Griffith University back in 2010. I began posting my work online (chalk typography ...in particular before it was cool) without thinking people would enjoy my work or be inspired by it. After I landed my dream job in a design agency right after finishing up uni, I knew I had to figure out something else out when I began doing chalk typography at a junior wage. I will never forget that day when I was driving to my 9 to 5 job completely burnt out and decided that it was time to make living with my designs by myself, no matter what it was going to take. Over the past few years, I have been incredibly lucky to speak @Typism conference, start teaching typography at Griffith University and build my own creative design business (from my very own home office!). My mission is pretty simple: produce the highest quality work for every client, on every creative project. I also strive to share my knowledge with upcoming designers and hand letterers. I'm very grateful I get to work everyday to do the things I love, and get to inspire people. I believe design can make a difference and I can’t wait to see what the future holds! 05.01.2022 Guys! I’ve been sooo busy working on sooo many exciting new projects, I literally have trouble sleeping because I have too many ideas in my head! My new Masterclass is taking me longer than expected, BUT that’s because it’s going to be bigger and better!! I’m also putting together my very first Studio Vlog!! So stay tuuuuned for lots of good stuff coming soon! Also I’ve been feeling a lot more creative lately so I decided to grab some coloured pencils (eventually). 04.01.2022 Chalk Lettering has been one of my go-to style for years! And if you’re wondering why, it’s because I find chalk lettering similar to sketching with pencil on paper (except it’s in reverse). That’s why I truly believe that it’s one of the best way to practice and improve your hand lettering skills. Mainly because it’s easy to erase and redo, you are only using two colours (black and white), it’s inexpensive and very approachable. The depth, dimension, shading and detailed flo...urishes you can create with chalk is unmatched! This is why I’ve created Chalk Lettering Masterclass (launching on November 11). Stop letting complex compositions intimidate you because together, we will learn how to come up with better compositions, draw perfect letterforms and add flourishes and embellishments to your design. 03.01.2022 I would be lying if I said that @dominique_falla hasn’t been one of the most influential person in my life! She’s been a mentor throughout my whole career as a designer and her method has helped me go beyond what I ever thought I was capable of, and not just in my lettering practice. I used to think that to be creative, you had to draw all day long and that I was too busy to create things for myself. I was wrong. All it takes is 15 mins a day. As a designer doing creativ...e work for other people, this method has changed my process entirely and help me reconnect with my creative practice! She has published her very first ebook called Creative Space, where she shares practical strategies to help you find more time and space for creativity in your life.
