25.01.2022 How is your winter wonderland today? These beautiful shots are from staffer Maree who lives at Maydena - and what a beautiful drive to work! Unfortunately the snow on her car had melted by the time she arrived at Mill Lane, so no snowmen for us to build this morning.... please share your snow photos with us if you had the pleasure of a snowy morning? :) Stay warm everyone :)

25.01.2022 Learning Centre Presentation Day is this Friday 7th August, where students and their Tutors present recent work. Here is Viirginia, who has been researching calligraphy, and today practiced the art of writing with a Quill - a peacock feather in fact :) students cant wait to show you their amazing efforts.... this Friday, with morning tea from 9.30 a.m. All welcome!

24.01.2022 A farmer with his wife and child off to chapel, a spotted quoll, a couple of dubious pick pockets, a little bird watches from the window ledge, our chicken now has a rooster friend, a forest is beginning, and the little girl has flowers in her basket - so many gorgeous characters added to our amazing mural :) Jodie Gaul Art

24.01.2022 "NAIDOC Week - Always was, always will be"... In acknowledging our country's Aboriginal history and culture, Trainees today enjoyed an afternoon of creating Aboriginal Dot Art. 23.01.2022 What a brilliant day! There were games, and dancing, and a talent concert, and singing, and joking, and pizza! As we all came together on our last day of what has been a very different Term, we acknowledged the many challenges we had all faced over these past few months, but more importantly we congratulated everyone for the wonderful way all had embraced the many changes at Aurora to make sure we are all safe. Thank you to our fantastic Aurora family for your support of each other during these difficult times. We are looking forward to seeing everyone back again for Term 3 on Monday 20th July :) Happy term break everyone :)

21.01.2022 Remembrance Day ... at the 11th hour, of the 11th day, of the 11th month, we remembered the end of World War 1. The Flanders Poppy - red representing the blood of those who lost their lives, black representing the mourning for those who did not return home, green for grass and crops growing in future prosperity after the war... we are so fortunate to celebrate the wonderful freedoms we enjoy today due to those many sacrifices. Today we also celebrated Presentation Day, where students and their tutors provide an insight into their research and learning over the past year. The presentations were brilliant, so much work and detail, and fantastic entertainment. Congratulations everyone for such outstanding achievements in your work.

21.01.2022 Such a beautiful day for some amazing Jodie inspiration! Jodie Gaul Art

20.01.2022 All these beautiful little characters, each with their own story - and what stories could they tell? Jodie Gaul Art

19.01.2022 Hello everyone we hope you are safe and well Due to the effects of COVID-19 over these past few months, we have all needed to face many challenges. Slowly the government restrictions are being lifted, and so we have made very careful considerations about starting our programs and activities again. At this point in time, we are very pleased to let you know that Aurora Community Access / Day Support ... will reopen at Mill Lane from Monday 1st June 2020 Our Aurora COVID-19 Roadmap to Recovery details a timeline for when all Aurora programs and activities will start again. We have carefully thought about our responsibilities to everyone in making these decisions. It is also important that when re-opening we have a slow and carefully planned transition back to some sort of normality, and continue to have processes in place to make sure that everyone is safe. This will mean that for everyone, there will be new rules as our programs and activities slowly start again over these coming months this is because it is so important to ensure the safety and wellbeing of everyone. A very sincere thank you for your patience and understanding during these troubling times there is much to be proud about in how our Aurora family have supported each other and responded so well to the difficulties we have all needed to face over these past few months well done everyone, and please continue to stay safe! Yours sincerely Joy M Cairns OAM - Managing Director of Services Diane Jordan - PresidentTAPDATA Angelique Payne - Executive Officer

17.01.2022 "And that, my friends, is a wrap!", said Jodie today - feeling both exhausted and exhilarated! But how do you thank someone who has dedicated many hours to give such a perfect gift? We are very much indebted to Jodie, whose amazing talent has allowed our Old Chapel Tea Rooms of such historical significance to truly shine. Everyone at Aurora is so very grateful for this absolute masterpiece that so wonderfully captures our 1830s era. We are so fortunate to share this enjoyment with all in our community - it is brilliant! Xx Jodie Gaul Art

17.01.2022 Just a reminder that we are still not allowed to hold the Aurora Dance. This is because of COVID-19 restrictions where the Government has banned dancing at all Tasmanian venues. As well, there are still limits in place for the number of people allowed in the dance hall, and social distancing would be very difficult to monitor. We know many of you are very disappointed, but together we need to make sure we all stay safe

16.01.2022 What a wonderful week! So many happy people, its fantastic that we are all starting to enjoy some normality again :) Here are a few snaps of those who enjoyed our new Quilling program - gorgeous creations, ladies :) stay dry everyone! and have a happy weekend!

Thank you Vim, for your genuine care for the welfare of our clients and families, and for your wonderful commitment and dedication to Aurora. 05.01.2022 Lifeline Tasmania has set up a new service for Tasmanians, specifically to deal with information, advice and support because of the coronavirus pandemic. The new line will deal with the many issues around what is called psychological distress. Being in psychological distress means that a person feels unhappy, anxious, worried, angry, sad, scared or grief-stricken. The Mental Health Council of Tasmania says that psychological distress is not a mental illness - it is a norm...al human response to a situation that is frightening, confusing or upsetting - and most people will experience some level of psychological distress during a pandemic. For many, this service is one you may never have thought to access in normal times but these are not normal times. The number is 1800 98 44 34 and will be staffed from 8.00 a.m. to 8.00 p.m., seven days a week. This service also provides information on resources available to support those impacted by changes in the way we are all currently going about our daily lives - including social isolation, loss of employment, or financial challenges. We strongly encourage you to seek assistance by calling this new Lifeline Tasmania service if you feel you need someone to talk to. See more
