Okay you experts out there, who can explain why the mudguard attaching blocks are square on the large piece and round on the smaller piece? Obviously we are using pieces from two different tanks. ... Glen and Beau are making great progress on restoring this beast!

22.01.2022 Well once again you never know what will turn up in your own backyard! We have been aware of this WWII Japanese Type 95 Ha Go tank for some time, but the owners, the Wedd family were reluctant to part with it. They finally made a decision to dispose of the vehicle and gave us a call. It is now awaiting transport to Cairns. We will provide a full set of pictures upon its arrival. We are very excited to have a rare addition to our WWII Japanese section!



21.01.2022 TANK TUESDAY brought to you by our T-72! The T-72 traded off interior space for a low silhouette but with a reduced gun depression of -6 degrees (106mils) compared to a Leopard 1 of -9 degrees (160mils) Did you know, anyone taller than 5ft7 couldn't sit in the turret to be able to close the hatch?... The T72 can go also go underwater to a depth of 5 meters with a snorkel. A tank made for battle.

20.01.2022 Tank Tuesday brought to you by the Churchill! Australia bought 51 Churchills! A mix of Mk IV, V, VI ,VII and VIII. Our initial purchase number was 510.... The Churchill was trialled against the Sherman tanks at Madang in August 1944. Did you know we have a Mk IV, VII, AVRE and the only Churchill Flail (Toad) here at Ausarmour?

20.01.2022 We are cruising into Tank Tuesday with our Australian Cruiser Mk IV or as some people know it, the AC4. Field Marshall Sir Thomas Blamey requested a 17pdr be fitted as it had twice the muzzle velocity of a 25pdr on the AC3! The AC4 was to have a 70 inch turret ring compared to the 54 inch of an AC1.... There was only one prototype of the AC4 with the 17 pdr, it was made before the project was cancelled. Did you know Australia was the first allied army to fit a 17pdr in a turret, one year before the Firefly?!

15.01.2022 Tank Tuesday is brought to you by the Jagdpanzer 38(t) or Hetzer! The Hetzer was built on a modified 38t chassis. They entered service in July 1944 and by May 1945 around 2800 were manufactured.... Our Hetzer was restored by the wonderful team at Axis Track Services in the UK!

14.01.2022 Our WWII Japanese Type 95 Ha Go has arrived at the Museum! We are so excited to have this rare vehicle here in Far North Queensland. This little cutie is the new favourite for a few of the museum staff members (don't tell the Panther ).... Stay tuned for further updates!

13.01.2022 TIGER I UPDATE Glen and Beau are making great progress on our Tiger I project! As you can see they have now completed the front upper hull armour plate along with both sides. The upper hull will come along nicely from here on as we have the vital components prepped and ready to go. ... Stay tuned for further updates!

13.01.2022 Tank Tuesday brought to you by the Sherman Firefly! The Firefly were built on predominantly the M4A4 Sherman. Over 340 Fireflys were available for the D-Day landings.... The white camouflage pattern on the barrel was to disguise the length, which proved to be an effective measure. Did you know The Firefly will be out at AusArmourfest 2021?!?!



07.01.2022 Another special delivery to AAAM! Our M26A1 Pershing is finally at home in the USA section of the Museum. This beast of vehicle has come to us with noticeable battle damage on the mantlet. As always stay tuned for further updates!

07.01.2022 ****PANTHER UPDATE**** SOUND ON Pavel is seen here using the inertia starter to fire up the Maybach HL230 engine in the AAAM Panther at Axis Track Services! Listen to that Kitty purr! ... Our Panther will not be at AusArmourfest 2019 but will definitely here for next year in 2020! Mark your calendars!

05.01.2022 TANK TUESDAY brought to you by our Stug IV! Our Assault Gun/Tank destroyer, commonly known as the Stug IV is an Early variant. They produced early and late, no mid production vehicles. The camo scheme is a 3 tone camo commonly spotted in the Normandy area during late WWII. ... Did you know that the zimmerit is applied to the exterior of the vehicle to protect from magnetic mines? 04.01.2022 Currently in the workshop is our Late Panzer IV J in for some tlc. Ergonomically driving this vehicle causes us great discomfort so we are looking to reconfigure the clutch pedal to enable easier changing of gears. Covid permitting this vehicle will be running in our Gold Class at AusArmoufest 2021!

03.01.2022 Special Announcement AAAM are delighted to announce that we will be putting together from wartime parts a Jagdpanther. We have been collecting for the last five years and have a great set of parts, including this right hand fighting compartment which is shown in this picture! 03.01.2022 Australia Day Special! Australian Cruiser Tank Mk1 - The Sentinel Of the 68 Australian Cruisers built (including prototypes) only 6 remain, 2 here at AAAM. ... Zirconium was used as a replacement to Nickle in the armour composition, Zirconium is found in beach sand in New South Wales, Australia. The Sentinel was given the name in February 1942 by Lt-Col Leslie Pittock Crouch - Director of AFV 1942-1943. Have a safe fun Australian Day everyone!
