23.01.2022 We are extremely disheartened to announce that we have made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Australian Dance Festival! We had hoped for the very best and wanted so badly for the ADF to go ahead, for the sake of all the dancers who have missed out on so much already in 2020. It has been extremely difficult to give up on this hope! 3 weeks ago, it looked like the COVID-19 cases in Australia were trickling away and we were 100% certain that the ADF would go ahead. ...We had the go ahead from the venues and had just started to confirm our instructors and workshop timetable. We understand that most states in Australia are restricting their borders, and some are enforcing a 14 day quarantine for interstate travel. Additionally, the NSW government has limited gatherings to a maximum of 300 people (rather than as many people the venue can accommodate with the 4 sqm rule). We are uncertain as to whether this restriction will be lifted by the time the ADF rolls around. As such, we simply cannot ask families to run the risk of attending the ADF in September. Throughout this week, we have been informing our instructors, sponsors and supporters know of our decision, and the support and love we have received has been overwhelming. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank the universe for blessing us with so many amazing people in our dance industry We appreciate your understanding and look forward to seeing you at the 2021 Australian Dance Festival! As you know, we are committed to go ahead with the 2020 Festival on our scheduled dates 25th 27th September because we know it is extremely important at this worrying time for children (of all ages) to have something to look forward to! 06.01.2022 I’ll be honest, the last few weeks haven’t been easy. I’ve been feeling a bit lost, lacking direction ever since I was forced to cancel the 2020 ADF. 15 ye...ars of running events, 15 years of always feeling busy and under the clock, and now...nothing. It’s odd. I feel strange adapting to the new normal and I’ve found myself questioning what to do with myself. There’s grief, sadness, and doubt about the future. And then guilt that I should be feeling this way when I know how lucky we are. And then today, the universe finds ways to tap me on the shoulder to say Chin up! I’ve got your back! The Taps came today via an email from Josef Brown who reminded me about my personal power. And then this afternoon, I got a gorgeous delivery from Gail McGeachy of Dancesurance. Flowers and card reminding me that the sun will shine again and that the ADF will be back! Thank you both of you for making today a good day. And to all the cheerleaders in my life, you may not be mentioned in this post, but you know who you are, and know that I’m so grateful for you!

04.01.2022 Hey everyone Overnight we have had some suspicious activity with a Online Australian Dance Festival FB event being created and an email sent out on behalf of the Australian Dance Festival from a Bigpond email. In effort to further enhance our cyber defenses, we want to highlight a common cyber-attack that everyone should be aware of phishing "Phishing" is the most common type of cyber attack. They can take many forms, but all share a common goal getting you to share... sensitive information such as login credentials, credit card information, or bank account details. Although we maintain controls to help protect our networks and computers from cyber threats, we rely on you to be our first line of defense. We’ve outlined a few different types of phishing attacks to watch out for: Phishing Spear Phishing Shared Document Phishing What You Can Do To avoid these phishing schemes, please observe the following email best practices: Do not click on links or attachments from senders that you do not recognize. Be especially wary of .zip or other compressed or executable file types. Do not provide sensitive personal information (like usernames and passwords) over email. Watch for email senders that use suspicious or misleading domain names. Inspect URLs carefully to make sure they’re legitimate and not imposter sites. Do not try to open any shared document that you’re not expecting to receive. If you can’t tell if an email is legitimate or not, please contact us separately via the website. Be especially cautious when opening attachments or clicking links if you receive an email containing a warning banner indicating that it originated from an external source.
