12.01.2022 Let’s strive for health equality today on Close The Gap Day, and everyday. Close The Gap Day is about raising awareness to improve health outcomes for Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islanders to the same standard as for non-Indigenous Australians. 10 years. That’s how much shorter the life expectancy is for Indigenous Australians compared to non-Indigenous peoples. ... Indigenous people have higher rates of dental disease and tooth loss, more illness, hospital admissions and deaths than the general population. This must change. Their health is also related to the marginalisation of the community, the lower income and employment, schooling, housing and living situations. It’s more than a health issue, it’s also a human rights issue. Equal access to healthcare for everyone is crucial. Sign this petition, calling on our Government to do more for our First Nations people, and to help close the health gap by 2030: https://antar.org.au/closethegappledge #CloseTheGapDay #OurHealthOurVoiceOurChoice
