20.01.2022 Certified Specialist of the Month! - Karen Cooper - Certification gives transparency in our industry and provides evidence that we are highly professional and meet high industry standards. The Certification Mark can be used on marketing material for promotional purposes and helps me to stand out. It helps set guidelines for your business, which are kept updated and current.... Massage & Myotherapy Australia have set out guidelines which help make it easier under the Certification standard to manage your practice. #certifiedspecialist #featureofthemonth I started my working career as a junior dental assistant in Belgrave, Victoria. I left the dental profession to raise a family. Then, being divorced and a single parent with two special needs children, I needed to pursue a career that would allow me to manage a job and family. I became a qualified remedial therapist in 2011 at the Australian Institute of Massage. In 2014 I formally began my own business. I received Certification in 2019. I chose to become a Certified Specialist as I wanted to be set apart. This is important to me as I care about my patients, and being Certified demonstrates that to them. In a sole business setting it can be easy to become complacent with patient care and maintaining high standards. Certification makes me accountable and therefore shows consumers and GPs that I conduct my business in a truly professional way. Facebook: Physical Relief
16.01.2022 Introducing the Certified Specialist of the Month! - Richard Goncalves - Certification provides me with a quality assurance foundation in which to build my own present and future qualifications and clinical experience journey. I undertook the Certification program because it resonated with my values as a program that screens and assures quality and practice standards by massage and myotherapists. Especially in these ‘socially challenging’ times, this program makes sense to... those who are serious about their soft tissue work as it equally validates the setting to which the therapist practices from. Above all, this program adds value in circumstances when a client is seeking a therapist, they can be assured that the therapist has undertaken an Association-reviewed process in providing both a clinical environment and personal professional practice that is of the highest standards of wellbeing for both therapist and client. As a passionate but laid-back massage therapist, chronic pain is my greatest interest. I believe my best work is achieved trying to find what others miss. I hybrid trigger points, dry needling, cupping and fascial manipulation with deep tissue massage to promote healthy movement and synchronicity in the body’s soft tissue. I have over 5,000 hours of treatment experience in a range of settings including working for the Greater Western Sydney AFL team and in clinics across Sydney and Melbourne. As a massage therapist, I am certified in Stecco Fascial Manipulation (level 2), Active Release Techniques and Dry Needling. I am currently certified in working out of Stable Massage in Melbourne’s CBD. https://stablemassage.com.au/therapists/richard-goncalves/ https://www.facebook.com/StableMassage/
14.01.2022 The body of research undertaken during the past five years that reports specifically on the effects of massage on symptoms of cardiovascular disease and surgery, such as heart rate, hypertension and blood pressure, suggest that massage is a useful intervention.
11.01.2022 Certified Specialist of the Month! - Charlotte Keane - I became a Certified Specialist because I believe in professionalism and standards and I want my business to be the best it can be. I see the program as a great tool to ensure constant improvement so that customers, suppliers, staff, and potential employees recognise my business as a leader in the industry and one they can trust. I participated in the pilot of the Certified Specialist program by offering to be audited.... I remember thinking after the audit team left how great it was to show them all the positive things I was doing in my business, which they validated, and all the improvements I could now make with their consultation to make my business even better. During the COVID-19 pandemic, my excellent business practices underpinned by my Certified Specialist status, ensured I could access all Government assistance, retain my staff, and stay in business. #certifiedspecialist #featureofthemonth Charlotte Keane is a myotherapist with an Advanced Diploma and 17 years of industry experience. She is currently studying a Bachelor of Health Science (Myotherapy) at Endeavour College and is due to complete it in 2021. Charlotte owns and operates City Haven Massage Therapy, which has two clinics in Melbourne, Victoria. Her business provides services to the general community as well as local businesses and nursing homes. She has a special interest in elderly clients and enjoys seeing them improve and gain a greater quality of life with her advice. Charlotte strives to provide a professional environment for customers and staff.
