25.01.2022 Have a look at the networks added on AusPass: the latest being CAPRAL. http://auspass.edu.au/networks/capral.html

22.01.2022 New data available in AusPass! Have a look at the Curnamona region (south Australia) with seismic data : http://auspass.edu.au/networks/curnamona.html

21.01.2022 Picking up some data from the Oodnadatta track and APYlands. Coming to AusPass soon. Hope the camels have left the seismometer alone.

17.01.2022 AusPass is making your life easier with its new metadata archive! It's now easy as pie to find seismic data during a particular earthquake! We also provide complete references for each seismic array. Have a look: http://auspass.edu.au/index.html#AusPass_MDA

17.01.2022 Do you teach students about the Elastic Rebound Theory in your geoscience courses? If so, consider letting students bend a rock, to deepen their understanding o...f this foundational geoscience concept. Recent research published in the Journal of Geoscience Education suggests many undergraduates do not conceptualize of rigid, solid objects like rocks as elastic, and their understanding of the concept of elasticity tends to be incomplete. "By giving students the opportunity to bend a rock in class, they are forced to re-evaluate their existing understandings of rocks and the concept of elasticity. Through the experience they become open to the idea that even rigid solids can behave elastically which leads into an opportunity to review other types of deformation (e.g. brittle and ductile behaviors) with other non-traditional examples. The research is available here... Hubenthal, M. (2018). Exploring undergraduates’ conceptions of elasticity, within a plate tectonics context, before and after experience with rock’s elastic behavior. Journal of Geoscience Education, 66(4), 261277. https://www.tandfonline.com//abs/10./10899995.2018.1493964 An example lesson using the demonstration can be found here... Seeing IS believing. Rocks are elastic! (https://www.iris.edu/hq/inclass/lesson/elastic_rocks) Additional teaching demonstrations and tips are available in the January 2018 issue of In the Trenches (an online publication of NAGT) Seismology Lessons with Deep and Lasting Impact (https://nagt.org/nagt/publications/trenches/v8-n1/index.html)
