24.01.2022 Harrington Grove - RDRTE - 2019: Trademark Designs was asked to design a large Mediterranean-style home a task that required many hours of articulate design and careful thought. The clients expressed their passion regarding the emphasis on the shapes and curves needed to make up the exterior of the home and the special roof design that was needed to accompany that. The considered choice of internal and external materials was paramount to achieving the design brief. The ex...terior barrister white walls feature a fine render detail, with all corners of the structure curved. A large arch and rectangular windows were installed, with curves continuing throughout the interior of the home. The turret tower at the front entry adds to the unique look. The design of the roof and the visual aspects of the roof tiles play a major role in the project. After extensive research with the clients, the designers chose Curvado Roja terracotta roof tiles from Bristile Roofing. The unique colour of the terracotta tile was the perfect choice for achieving the desired appearance. Not all clients are bold enough to select the colour red, but this roof design needed to stand out, and that has been accomplished. The project captures the essence of a Mediterranean home among a sea of grey concrete and metal roofs. 23.01.2022 Copper Pot House - RDRTE - 2018: At this project, modern-day craftsmanship has invigorated an introverted Californian bungalow, allowing it to engage with the outdoor spaces. The conceptual framework of the house is two-fold: firstly, the aim was to consolidate the spaces within the existing footprint for modern living while creating an outward focus; secondly, the aim was to create a new architectural language that would reinvigorate the rear of the home. The spatial arrange...ment of the rooms improves the quality and character of natural light in the interior and orientates the entertaining spaces so that each one has a direct connection to the outdoors. There is also a new outdoor area that has become an open-air living room with direct access to the new pool. The once-introverted dwelling is now opened up, meaning it can breathe in the landscaped garden. 23.01.2022 Bowral - RDRTE - 2019: This private home is located across the street from the Bradman Museum and International Cricket Hall of Fame in Bowral, New South Wales. The Bradman Oval and Grandstand are heritage-listed items of state significance, and the property is located within the Bowral Conservation Area. The design for the new home needed to respond to the substantial heritage values of the surrounding area and the heritage items. To allow the home to sit comfortably in the ...heritage environment, a dark-red face brick was used for the walls, and dark-grey tiles were used for the roof. The Bristile Planum clay flat roof tile was the perfect choice for the project. The colour Slate and a zinc ridge were used to provide contrast. The traditional design of the roof, incorporating high pitches, dormer windows and a large entry porch framed by classical columns, is perfectly finished with the slate-style roof tiles. The home provides comfortable modern living with a classic architectural style. Architect: Kathy Barnsley Architect | Contractor: A. T. 23.01.2022 Investing in Quality - RDRTE - 2020: This project involved knocking down the existing dwelling, subdividing the land and building a new home at the front, with two connected duplexes at the rear. A key differentiator of this project is that the homes are Seven Star energy rated and include in-slab hydronic heating. The choice of roof tiles was an important consideration, in terms of making sure everything about the development was of high quality..., as well as in terms of creating the desired exterior aesthetic. Monier Roofing Nullarbor terracotta tiles in Titan, a rich charcoal colour, contrast strongly with the white façade. Combined with A-line ridging, the tiles give the new building a streamlined and contemporary look. The choice of terracotta means that the tiles will not fade, thus providing a strong, contrasting look for decades to come. Inside the main house, quality is also a key focus. There are four separate living zones, which include a basement, and a formal lounge on the ground floor, which features a gas log fire and a detailed cornice. 22.01.2022 Hamptons Dream - Bridgeman Downs, QLD - RDRTE - 2018: Inspired by the Hamptons trend, the client for this project wanted to build her dream; desiring a quality build that reflected a classic yet modern look. In keeping with the Hamptons style, she chose Monier Nullarbor Terracotta tiles, allowing the smooth, streamlined look of a shingle to be achieved, but with the benefits of terracotta and ensuring it's colour won’t fade. The roof is a standout feature of this project. Architect: Domestic Design | Builder: All Type Builders | Contractor/Manufacturer: Monier Roofing | Product: Nullarbor - Peak
21.01.2022 Hamptons High On The Hill - RDRTE - 2019: The clients for Hamptons High on the Hill wanted to capture a classic American vibe in this project a new Cape Cod-style home in Brisbane’s Seven Hills. It is the first project that the clients have built using roof tiles instead of metal, and they said the tiles give the home a more authentic appearance, closer to the architectural style desired. Monier Roofing’s Concrete colour-through Madison tiles in Soho Night were selected for the way they capture the shingle look wanted by the clients. The fact that C-LOC technology helps to maintain the colour for longer also played a big part in the decision. Architect: Owner | Builder: Pure Build | Contractor/Manufacturer: Monier Roofing | Product: Madison - Soho Night
21.01.2022 Custom Design - RDRTE - 2020: The site for this home in Melbourne’s Beaumaris was chosen for its potential to be excavated, allowing the creation of an extensive garage area for the owners’ car collection as well as ample storage space. The entrance on the side helps to maximise the accommodation in the home. The dwelling has three living spaces; a study, which both owners work in; a large alfresco area and an extra external toilet. The home has ...also been future-proofed, with provision for a lift, should the couple stay into their later years. Another key component of the design was for the owners to have their living area, kitchen/dining and main bedroom located on the same level, with the children’s bedrooms upstairs. The roofing material is key to the exterior aesthetic; due to the Bayside suburb receiving a lot of weather exposure, tiles were a good choice for the location. Monier Roofing concrete Atura tiles in Sambuca were chosen for their almost flat profile, with a slight ripple. With the darker colour (Sambuca), there are sight lines for the roof with nice crisp lines. The final result is a contemporary facade with a striking black-and-white colour scheme. 20.01.2022 Hamptons Style In Hervey Bay Metricon - RDRTE - 2020: This two-storey dwelling is positioned high on one of the few hills in Queensland’s Hervey Bay, allowing the family to take advantage of some spectacular views. The clients, Elyse and Shawn, worked closely with Metricon to design and build their new home. A contemporary and popular look was chosen for the project, creating a home with a Hamptons-style aesthetic. The choice of roof tiles was carefully considered: Monier Roo...fing’s concrete Madison tiles in Soho Night were specified for their streamlined style and charcoal colour. We went to America about ten years ago, and I remember flying in and seeing the dark tiled roofs, and I thought they looked amazing, said Elyse. So I’ve always wanted to have one, and no-one in Hervey Bay had done it. You cannot find [another] black roof around here. 20.01.2022 Eastwest Roofing - RDRTE - 2019: This home was designed by Locus Design Group, an innovative practice committed to architectural quality. Its reputation derives from the skills and integrity of its core staff, which bring together years of experience in the design and documentation of a variety of building projects. 17.01.2022 Hamptons in the Country - RDRTE - 2020: The simple, elegant lines of the Hamptons style show no sign of falling out of fashion indeed, its classic aesthetics have some home designers predicting the style will be around for decades to come. Queensland-based DR Homes has been designing and selling Hamptons-style homes for the last four or five years, and the company has adapted the look of these classic American homes to move with design trends and also to make t...he design work with acreage homes. Director of DR Homes, David Reilly, says the company’s latest iteration, Delaney 39, is a take on the Hamptons style. It is designed on a grander scale, perfectly suited to customers with some land, offering a gracious style of living within a classic design. It features a mix of materials on the façade, including cultured stone, as well as Monier Roofing’s classic Horizon concrete tiles for the roof. Available in a palette of fourteen inspirational colours, the Horizon tile delivers a streamlined look that integrates well with the Hamptons style of the home. 15.01.2022 Master of the House - RDRTE - 2020: The head designer of Masterton Homes, Anthony Campanale, has created a slice of the Hamptons for his family. Campanale spent time sourcing exactly the right block of land for the house, choosing a corner block so that he could have two facades and some height to the land. The block is not large, but corner blocks allow the land to feel more open, as opposed to being closed in by large homes on either side. Masterton chose Monier Roofing’s c...lean and classic Horizon concrete tile in Barramundi, a dark grey, which suits the Hamptons look of the dwelling. The Horizon tile and A-line ridging is standard with most Masterton Homes projects, and Campanale says the combination is always popular with customers because of its clean lines. The house includes a feature facade in PGH Bricks & Pavers Cultured Stone, which Campanale believes reflects the classic American style that he was trying to achieve. There are twenty-two square metres of cultured stone on the house, taking you around to the front, to a porch area that adds character. Having one big open living-dining-kitchen area creates a generously sized space that can host large family gatherings. 14.01.2022 Heritage in Kew - RDRTE - 2018: Being over one hundred years old, this property was ready for a new roof. As it is in a heritage overlay area, it was required that the owner replace materials like-for-like. To bring a bit of difference to the home, roof tiles in the colour Aurora were selected, to add tone and texture. The end result speaks for itself new and refreshed look for a heritage-listed property. Architect/Builder/Contractor: C&L Coghlan Roofing | Manufacturer: Monier Roofing | Product: Marseille - Aurora
14.01.2022 Pitched in the Bush - RDRTE - 2020: Building a new house is all about finding balance between practicality, style and affordability. A collaboration between builder Gremmo Homes and designer Urban Harmony, this new home was built to withstand the demands of the surrounding environment. The design was carefully planned and has a unique contemporary feel. Bricks have been used for the exterior, while a wooden door complements the surrounding environment and sandstone features a...round the exterior of the home complete the look. The choice of roof tiles was an important consideration for the overall project, as well as for the exterior aesthetic. The use of Monier Roofing tiles was the perfect choice to withstand changes in temperature and weather conditions. The use of terracotta Nullarbor tiles in Peak helps to create a contemporary look, and the choice of terracotta means that they will not fade, thus providing the contemporary look for decades to come. The use of Nullarbor tiles has a level of restriction based on the roofline pitch; however, additional techniques were carried out to enable the low-pitched front verandah to stay consistent with the overall roof design. 13.01.2022 Elias House - RDRTE - 2016: The Elias House is a small two storey infill dwelling constructed in the backyard of an existing warehouse. The house is situated in a narrow street in North Fitzroy comprising Victorian row houses and detached cottages, modern infill houses, back fences and garages. The house is an expression of play between the natural elements of terracotta and timber. The two materials interact to form an uneven and textured surface wrapping around the exterior... of the house. The use of terracotta roof tiles in the colours of Delta Sands and Slate Grey pick up on the colour tones present in the brickwork. The combination of brick, terracotta and timber ground the house within the context of the surrounding suburban environment while the vertical proportions align with the adjacent Victorian row houses. The selection of durable natural materials creates a beautiful building envelope that matches the client's brief for a low maintenance dwelling. Simple, cost-effective construction methods were adopted, allowing feature materials to be specified within the project budget. Terracotta tiles were selected for the natural beauty and texture and their enduring colour retention that will maintain the aesthetic of the house for years to come. These tiles have a streamlined look and eliminate the need for typical large solar panels. 09.01.2022 Historically, terracotta roof tiles have been used extensively in ancient and modern architecture. Revisiting its raw character and timeless appeal, terracotta, otherwise known as baked earth, has proven to stand the tests of time. This can be seen in celebrated examples around the world such as the renaissance churches in Northern Italy and rural communities throughout Europe. The evolution of terracotta roof tiles has been primarily in the manufacturing process and final product, where they now come in a variety of colours which do not fade over time and retain their vibrancy for many years. This makes terracotta roof tiles a superior choice due to their durability and ageless aesthetic.

The rendered face is framed perfectly with Terracotta Nullarbor roof tiles from Monier Prime, selected for their finish and ability to sustain coastal weather conditions. With the harsh winter storms, salt and sand that the dwelling will endure in its coastal location, it is imperative that the roof remains watertight for many years to come. The Terracotta Nullarbor profile in Peak complements the many angles and pitches of the large roof space, making it a focal point from the street. 07.01.2022 Touch of Tuscany - RDRTE - 2020: The builder of this house is also the owner, and he wanted to bring a part of Italy’s Tuscany to the inner-Melbourne suburb of Ivanhoe. The first things that greet you when arriving at the site are the stone walls, piers, metal picket fence and gate along with the front entry arbour. The patterned stone driveway leads in two directions: the underground garage to the right and carport and front entry of the house the left. The striking render c...olour along with timber windows and doors are complemented by half-round gutters and Bristile Roofing Curvado terracotta roof tiles in Jaspee Roja. This largely shaped terracotta roof tile is reminiscent of the roof tiles that are found throughout Tuscany. 06.01.2022 Casa Dei Sogni - House of Dreams - RDRTE - 2019: Half-pipe roof tiles imported from Europe dominate this home’s exterior. Multiple columns, wrought iron balustrading, copper guttering, an intricate chimney and subtle trims give the house the feel of continental Europe. Marble stairs lead to the double wrought iron entrance doors. The doors lead into the 6.5-metre entrance tower, with an arched window giving visitors just a glimpse of what awaits in the alfresco area and court...yard beyond. Handmade wrought iron chandeliers along with moulded archway columns, add to the authenticity of the home’s style. Clerestory windows naturally light and ventilate the interior. The living area opens onto a spacious covered alfresco area via eight-metre-wide cavity stacker doors. The alfresco area has detailed skylights, heaters and a built-in barbecue. This space overlooks the mosaic-tiled pool and spa, all to be enjoyed from the separate pool hut, which features a chandelier and decorative ceiling. A skylight offers natural lighting, with metallic ceiling paint that creates for a unique room. In keeping with the Italian theme, different colours have been used on the walls and ceilings throughout the home. Special features such as LED strip lighting with different colour options, underfloor hydronic heating, large underground tanks and concealed downpipes add to the sense of luxury. The home has authentic tile-capped privacy fencing, and perfect orientation for the north and eastern sunlight, and the beautiful escarpment breezes are maximized, all contributing to the Italian villa theme a true casa dei sogni. 04.01.2022 Lewisham Road House - RDRTE - 2018: Lewisham Road House one half of a pair of pre-war semi-detached houses is located on a small inner-city block. The project called for a sympathetic yet hardworking addition to the retained front room of the original house. Clad in terracotta shingles, the new volume draws inspiration from the prominent existing roof and responds sensitively to the adjacent house and broader streetscape. The notion of a traditional terracotta roof is que...stioned, with the existing roof wrapping up to sheathe the new form’s walls with tiles. The terracotta walls are punctured by black steel-framed openings, allowing views to the parkland beyond and intimate framed views to the garden. A delicate steel fin demarcates the threshold between old and new spaces, while the tiles have been mitred at the volume’s corners to create crisp, articulated edges.
