25.01.2022 Good morning and a late start today but don’t let that delay your time to consider and select a request to create for a deployed Aussie serving away from home. As always the Request List offers up so much. The thoughts and choices of the requests lead one to be enveloped in the real need for colour, comfort and community wherever one is and which in these uncertain times of Covid-19, border closure and lockdown in many parts of our beautiful country we can all empathi...se with. So, check out your fabric stash, browse some websites and take your pick from today’s list. Your efforts are so much appreciated the gratitude posts speak volumes for the value of your work. I do enjoy publishing this list, from receiving in the incoming emails from recipients to sending you, the amazing volunteers, the details of your project. I hope there’s a choice on this list that you’d like to sew.....I am looking forward to receiving your emails. Have a lovely day. Cheers from Clarissa http://aussieheroquilts.blogspot.com//request-list-28-sept

23.01.2022 For our homesick Aussies.... everyone loves a snag!!

22.01.2022 This is one of those emails that really reminds us of why we do what we do, in particular this time, why we are sewing laundry ags for our troops on COVID Assist...... "To whom it may concern, I am a Maritime Warfare Officer in the Royal Australian Navy. I am currently deployed as part of Operation COVID-19 Assist. ... I have just sent an e-mail to Ann S from NSW, thanking her for the laundry bag that I recently received. I wanted to also thank your organisation for the work that you have been doing since 2012. An astonishing number of quilts and laundry bags have gone out, and a great deal of passion has been put into this project from your volunteers. In a time of social distancing, all of us can feel the cold of isolation. So it was terrific to have received something which is both warm and personal. The gift of the bag, along with the accompanying letter, was an incredibly touching way to show that someone I had never met, living in a place that I had never been to, was thinking about the work that we are doing. All of us were very moved by the gesture that your organisation has made. It encourages us to do our very best, and hopefully, soon things will be back to normal. Once again, thank you. Warm regards," Happy stitching everyone. Cheers Jan-Maree

21.01.2022 Here we are again, it’s Monday!! Hello! And here’s this week’s Request List. Every week I put this list together I am amazed at the variety of requests. I hope there’s a choice on this list that you’d like to sew.....I am looking forward to receiving the emails accepting the interesting themed requests. As always, the 'blog' post contains all the vital info on how to select a Request, info for new volunteers, how to decode the list and also that there will most probably be a delay responding to your emails today. Wishing everyone a super week sewing for Aussie Heroes, Cheers, Clarissa http://aussieheroquilts.blogspot.com//request-list-31-augu

08.01.2022 Hey folks, We need your help. It is getting hard to buy Licenced material as imports from the States and other countries are being affected by COVID (isn't just about everything?). We can't afford to order stuff in from overseas, even if we could wait for the orders to get here. My local ladies have raided our local Spotlight and have tried ordering online from them but we have had little to no luck so I am putting it out to all of you. ... If you want to support us but you are not a sewer then you might go into your local Spotlight, or quilt shop and see if you can buy us some licenced fabric for us to incorporate in our quilts and bags. You would be surprised how many requests we get for DC and Marvel Superheroes like Thor, Superman, Spiderman, Wonder Woman and so many more. Requests come in for Wiggles, or Paw Patrol and of course all sorts of Pixar stars like Cars and Disney creations. and then there are the ever present Star Wars requests. It would be wonderful to be able to continue to make these requests special for our guys and girls on deployment and we would appreciate any help you can give us. Our postal address is Aussie Hero Quilts, PO Box 248, Cherrybrook, NSW 2126 Please comment below, message me or even email (attn Jan-Maree - Licensed Fabric) if you have questions. Have a great day everyone! Cheers Jan-Maree
