25.01.2022 Three years ago whilst I was conducting research for my Honours thesis at UTS on the Australian Games Industry, the last ABS census results (2012) stated that there were only 84 Game Development studios in the whole of Australia, with a total of 530 people working in the industry. I KNEW this to be wrong based on the fact that I already knew hundreds of people, just from my own city. So I conducted my own comprehensive Census of the industry in November 2013 and the results ...published in April 2014, as I predicted were vastly different. Upon checking back with the ABS (who later said they were interested in purchasing my data), they confirmed that the only way they managed to track down those 84 businesses, instead of the 209 I counted, was that they went off the Yellow Pages. O.o So, to all you Aussie game developers out there, next Tuesday night, stand up and be counted! Because we will only get more resources once we start to look like a force to be reckoned with, rather than appear to be just a handful of creative types who don't mind sitting alone, coding, and scratching out a meagre existence.

24.01.2022 This doesn't have anything to do with Aussie game developers but I found the graphic very interesting. I’m posting it here for future reference for when some dingbat starts mouthing off about the negative effects of playing video games.
