25.01.2022 Is this a case of drink or drug driving? Whilst making my our way home from a restaurant, we had barely managed to cross Alexandra Parade at Fitzroy when a car to my right lost control and crashed into a camera post only metres from us. After offering to help the driver, he hurled abuse at the thought we would call the police. Despite he and the passenger having narrowly escaped their own death he then threatened to harm my female friend. The police then arrived and apprehended them. They too were abused. It was frightful to witness what is possible under the influence of ice.

24.01.2022 I call this thought the "Irony". I was teaching a program a short time ago when all of a sudden an unasuming young adult left the class after answering his mobile phone. He appeared uninterested in the discussion and/or material presented. This is how it is when people have cross motivations. It is a challenge to hold attention. In the break he came to me and apologised for having left the room. He appeared furious and I thought "okay, this is going to be a challenge." He said that a member of his family called informing him that his brother was in an accident - motorcyclist hit by a drink driver. He continued to present with anger and fury and then all of a sudden it all subsided when it dawned on him, that he was one of those himself. There was no where for him to direct his anger as the realisation broke.

24.01.2022 VICTORIA IS ABOUT THE GET TOUGHER ON DRINK DRIVING (Dec 2017) Any driver convicted of a drink driving offence will be subject to: * Driver licence cancellation ... * Completion of a behaviour change program, including screening and assessment for alcohol problems * Mandatory alcohol interlock The driver licence and alcohol interlock changes affect people who hold a full driver licence, are over 26, and who commit a first offence with a BAC reading from 0.05 to 0.069, as well as commercial drivers who commit a first drink-driving offence with a BAC between 0.00 and 0.049. These drivers will now incur licence cancellation and disqualification for 3 months rather than 10 demerit points as is currently the case when a TIN is issued. Courts will no longer have discretion to impose 10 demerit points instead of licence cancellation. The current driver education course alcohol assessments will be replaced by a behaviour change program which is mandatory for all drink drivers. The minimum alcohol interlock condition will be 6 months.

It's been a pleasure knowing that the advice, support, and information provided is helping to minimise the impact of alcohol on individuals lives and their respective family and friends.
