20.01.2022 Lameness Bailey is a 14year old male neutered Maltese x, today he developed mild lameness in his left foreleg. His discomfort seems to be around his carpus (wrist joint). ... Mild Lameness can present for a number of reasons, in an older dog Osteoarthritis is a very common cause. This could also be a simple stran or sprain. Persistent or severe lameness should always be assessed by your veterinarian. Tonight i am supporting Bailey with some essential oils for pain and inflammation. 1 drop of copaiba 1 drop of frankincense 1 drop of helichrysum Added to 1Tbsp of fractionated coconut oil. I applied a small amount of this mixture to his area of discomfort every 20mins for 3 application, then 3times a day or as required. He was also given 1drop of copaiba and 1drop of frankincense in a 1/4 teaspoon of olive oil added to his food twice a day. Additionally Bailey will also be started on a fish oil supplement to further support his ageing joints. Would you like to hear about some other oils to help with lameness? Tell me your pets lameness story?

12.01.2022 Try these home made doggie treats this easter!!! Recipe from poh and co. Isabel loves them!!! ... Ingredients 600 g(4 cups) wholemeal plain flour 150 g(1 cups) milk powder 100 g(1 cup) wheat germ 3beef stock cubes, roughly crumbled 500 gchicken livers 3eggs 1 cupparsley (optional, see Note) 1/4 tspgarlic powder (optional, see Note) Cook's notes Oven temperatures are for conventional; if using fan-forced (convection), reduce the temperature by 20C. | We use Australian tablespoons and cups: 1 teaspoon equals 5 ml; 1 tablespoon equals 20 ml; 1 cup equals 250 ml. | All herbs are fresh (unless specified) and cups are lightly packed. | All vegetables are medium size and peeled, unless specified. | All eggs are 55-60 g, unless specified. Instructions Preheat the oven to 130C (110C fan-forced). Line a baking tray with baking paper. Place the flour, milk powder, wheat germ, livers and crumbled stock cubes in a food processor and pulse to combine (see Note). Add the eggs and process until the mixture comes together to form a rough dough. Turn the dough onto a floured benchtop, sprinkle with more flour, then roll until 6 mm thick. Cut roughly into 4 cm squares, then place onto the prepared tray and bake for 11 hours or until dry and crunchy. Leave to cool completely, then store in an airtight container. Note You can add the garlic powder and roughly chopped flat-leaf parsley, if you like to your dry mixture, before pulsing. Dont worry about picking the leaves form the parsley, just chop it, stalks and all. To add doTERRA essential oils i like to put 1 drop of essential oils in 10ml of olive oil and lightly spray over the treats once cooked. Avoid fatty oils in pets prone to pancreatitis. If its a strong flavoured essential oil dilute further with olive oil and only a very light spray. Also good to do a pet taste test first!
