25.01.2022 After a bit of a wait, we now have stainless pins back in stock for our reloader customers. If you want clean and shiny brass, the new wet tumbling method is the way to go. For FAQ , how-to video and relevant products, see our Reloader Category. Note that we are still waiting on Thumler Model B tumblers to arrive but the Lortone QT is available and very similar capacity. https://www.aussiesapphire.com.au/tumbling/reloaders/

25.01.2022 Our shelves are not being stripped bare like Coles or Woolies at the moment but there was a surprisingly large number of orders going out today - post trolley was chock-a-block and the courier trolley was just as full. Obviously we are in uncharted territory with the Covid-19 situation at the moment. Signature on delivery has been suspended by Australia Post for the time being to keep their staff safe so please keep this in mind when expecting deliveries. We are expecting s...ome orders from overseas soon but there are disruptions in freight (both air and sea) now due to the virus. Not sure how things will work out over the next few months. Here at Aussie Sapphire, we are working normally at the moment but of course, we are alert to any possible changes in government policy regarding quarantining or other health measures. As a home business, we are less exposed than bricks & mortar shops but we do rely on the freight system working (both in and out). As long we can get parcels out to you, we will continue to do that.

24.01.2022 Have just received a new order of JB Kwik for those who prefer to dop with epoxy. A strong quick-setting two part epoxy (black/white) available in small or large pack sizes. https://www.aussiesapphire.com.au/jb-kwik-dopping-epoxy-2-o

24.01.2022 Not long now till Minerama is on (13-15th March) so make your travel plans now. The Glen Innes district has been dealing with severe drought and bushfires over the past 18 months so your visit will help raise spirits and bring a little money into the town which will be greatly appreciated by the whole community. https://www.gleninnesexaminer.com.au//gems-jewellery-and-/

23.01.2022 It is great when people post videos to promote the hobby of rock tumbling. BUT - and this is a big but - not all videos are accurate and helpful. This one is a good example - if you pour the silicon carbide slurry down the sink as shown in this video, you will end up with a blockage that is going to be expensive and annoying to fix. Get good advice - any reputable supplier is happy to answer questions and will probably provide additional info on their website. Lapidary clubs are full of people who are happy to share their knowledge.

23.01.2022 Product supply has been very challenging all year with no improvement in sight. Orders placed have been significantly delayed for obvious Covid19 reasons and then they send us half or less of what we ordered. Production capacity still nowhere near normal for most of our suppliers. So if you see some SOLD OUT's on our site, please bear with us. UPDATES: We have a Cabking/HiTech flat lap order due in a few weeks. We have a new order of laps on the way (ETA unknown so far).... Thumler order delayed - no idea on ETA. We have a new order of stainless tumbling media in production now (due to leave at the end of this month). Saw blades from MK are a complete bust - dont know what is happening with that company but in the meantime, we have some stock of Silver Series blades from Korea in 6", 7" and 10" sizes. No idea when we can get more fossicking sieves - only very limited stock left. See more

22.01.2022 Have been sending out lots of drill bits lately so looks like people are doing lots of creative and interesting things with their rocks during this period of social isolation. So here is another idea for securing rock or glass for drilling - might be worth a try. https://www.ganoksin.com//securing-curved-stones-easy-dr/

22.01.2022 An interesting read:

22.01.2022 We have a number of parcels in transit by Toll Ipec courier (and a couple more to go out today). Please be advised that there will be delays in delivery as they have suspended all road services between Sydney and Brisbane due to the fire situation. Local services in some areas will also be affected. P Please check tracking for updated information on your parcel. However, please be patient as road closures are beyond their control and the fire situation is widespread and serious. Other courier/freight services are also likely to be similarly affected.

21.01.2022 We have 3 main orders in transit now from Lortone, Cabking and Thumler but all are being affected by port congestion. Lortone should have arrived by now but has been pushed back 2 weeks at least - the others have similar delays. We are working to try and get stock but it is harder than it has ever been due to a whole bunch of factors outside our control. Apologies for the delays but unfortunately nothing we can do except keep putting orders in and hope they get here eventually.

21.01.2022 Christmas Holiday Announcement: last day of posting is today - normal post will resume on Thursday 2nd January. Aussie Sapphire will be closed from 24th December until 2nd January. We will be checking and answering emails during this week but phones will be unattended. As I always say anyway, email is the best way to contact us. Here's hoping for a really wet Christmas this year so that those living in drought (including us) might start to have a bit of hope for 2020 and more urgently, the current bushfire crisis might just settle down. Thank you for all of your support this year - the drought has been tough to cope with but your support makes it so much easier so we really appreciate it.

20.01.2022 After a long wait, we have finally received new stock of fossicking sieves. So if you are keen to get out and about looking for gems and need to gear up, check out our fossicking section here: https://www.aussiesapphire.com.au/fossicking/

19.01.2022 Some important safety tips for anyone working with stone. Please take this seriously - your health is precious and no hobby is worth dying for. https://www.rockngem.com/dangerous-dust/

19.01.2022 We were talking about Sonorous Rocks in the last post - here is a fantastic example of this property in action.

19.01.2022 Glen Innes has been in the news for all the wrong reasons over the weekend so a few people have been asking after us. We are fine but unfortunately some very serious fires not too far away have resulted in lots of houses destroyed, some serious injuries and tragically two lives lost. Our thoughts are with all those who have been affected. Hopefully we can all get through the next few days safely. This photo was taken from our farm between Llangothlin and Ben Lomond on Frid...ay afternoon. Only a short time after the photo, we had to put out a small fire on the highway which had spotted over from the Wandsworth fire. Those fires are now under control so hopefully that is the worst over for us but will have to be on alert tomorrow when the conditions are expected to worsen. The drought has been tough enough to cope with especially with no end in sight but now all these fires causing terrible destruction. Please check conditions carefully before heading bush to go fossicking as there are lots of areas affected and would be better left alone for now. Thank you to the volunteers who have helped throughout this situation - has been going for a few months now and full summer yet to come. Hang in there everyone.

19.01.2022 What a find !!! https://www.theguardian.com//small-scale-miner-finds-bigge

17.01.2022 If you keep your gems in one of the traditional dimple style cases, you are probably used to getting down on the floor and looking for your gemstones because if you tilt it even slightly, they WILL fall out. This style of case has a much better design with a leatherette covered, divided interior to help hold the gems in place. Available in 3 different sizes: 21 gems (pocket sized), 30 gems or 50 gems - there will be a size to suit you. https://www.aussiesapphire.com.au/gem-display-or-carry-case

17.01.2022 Anyone planning on purchasing something that requires courier delivery should be aware that we are currently experiencing a major outage with all Toll Freight services. We are trying to get most items out on manual consignment notes but tracking is down completely until they get back online. If your item can be sent by post instead, we strongly suggest this is the better option for now. More info here: https://www.itnews.com.au//toll-group-shuts-it-systems-aft

16.01.2022 Order shipping is currently taking about a day longer than normal - sorry we are just swamped at the moment and dealing with a death in the family so things are a bit hectic. We will get the orders out as soon as we can.

15.01.2022 Opal really is a fascinating gemstone.

13.01.2022 Just a quick message to you all know that Aussie Sapphire is currently operating relatively normally. We will continue to ship orders as long as Post and Couriers continue to operate so feel free to shop online. Obviously the Covid-19 situation is a big disruption for everyone so we urge everyone to stay calm, keep listening to the health advice and look after each other.

13.01.2022 NOTICE: Aussie Sapphire will be closed tomorrow as we have to attend a funeral. Please do not phone - we will try to answer emails from tomorrow afternoon. Orders will go out on Thursday. Apologies for this inconvenience - thank you for your understanding.

13.01.2022 Toll courier online systems are still down - looks like we wont get access until end of February at least. We apologise for the inconvenience caused by this situation - it has been very frustrating for everyone. If you intend to buy a large item that requires courier delivery, please contact us first. Smaller items may be diverted to Post where possible as the safer and more convenient option. https://www.tollgroup.com/mytoll-status-update

11.01.2022 Sorry for lack of updates here but we have been really struggling to keep up with the number of orders coming in at the moment. Just wanted to let people know that while we are shipping every day, your parcel may be delayed due to major backlogs in the Australia Post network. Please be patient - all parcels do seem to get through eventually but some are being delayed quite a while due to hold-ups in the major sorting centres. I appreciate this is frustrating but please realise that the number of parcels being shipped at the moment is exceeding Christmas average volumes and there are other factors causing a slow-down in processing. Everyone is doing their best !!

11.01.2022 For those customers who prefer to pay via Direct Deposit, please note that we have just changed our Bank Details. Everything is the same (still with the NAB) but you will need to update the BSB and Account Number in your internet banking. New details will be printed on all invoices going forward. Can check at any time at our Payment Options page: https://www.aussiesapphire.com.au/payment-options/

11.01.2022 Have already posted about Minerama but couldnt resist sharing this photo. I actually took this one myself many years ago and it features my youngest son as a little tacker helping to shift some rocks for some visiting fossickers on our old Lonewood property. He is now a strapping lad of over 6 foot who just turned 18 so this one brings back some memories.

08.01.2022 MINERAMA ARRANGEMENTS: Unfortunately, due to having two family members in hospital at the moment, we wont be open all the time over Minerama. We have appointments tomorrow related to this situation so will be coming and going from the warehouse. We should be available on Saturday. If you want to pick something up tomorrow, please email us and we can arrange to have the order picked. Apologies for this but unfortunately our family responsibility are weighing a bit heavy at the moment. If you call our office phone, it may not answer - you can leave a message but an email will get a much faster response so please do that instead.

08.01.2022 Please take note of this advice from Australia Post. More parcels going out in all directions by both post and courier. I know they are doing the best they can but the volume of freight is really, really high so please be understanding of some delays along the way.

07.01.2022 It has been a long wait but we have finally got some more Cabking/Hitech stock from the USA including this 8 inch Slant Cabber. An ideal starter machine with everything included to get you started. Available here: https://www.aussiesapphire.com.au/hi-tech-slant-cabber-8-fl

06.01.2022 And just to make things just that bit more frustrating, our courier Toll has experienced another cyber-hack which has required them to take down all of their online systems. We are still able to ship on manual consignment notes but tracking will be unavailable until they restore everything back to normal and we dont know when that will be (a full week at the very least - perhaps longer). Please take this into account when requesting courier delivery on your order.

05.01.2022 There is less than 8 weeks to go until Christmas so if you are planning a gift purchase, DONT leave it till the last minute. We do our very best to get orders out as quickly as possible - most orders are despatched within 24 hours (same day if we get the order before postie picks up). Dont be like the guy who just called up at 3pm on a Friday afternoon from a town 2.5 hours drive away hoping that we can get a parcel to him by Sunday. It is just not possible!! With a bit more notice, disappointment can be avoided.

05.01.2022 One of our fantastic customers doing some great work at an amazing place to visit. Check out their facebook page for lots of interesting dinosaur info.

03.01.2022 STOP PRESS - phones are now working again (YAY !!). --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Apologies but our phones are down at the moment. We have narrowed down the problem and working to repair it as soon as possible. In the meantime, we are still working and despatching orders. As we often say, email is the best way to contact us - but at the moment, it is the only way to contact us. You can still call us on 1800502140 but you will ...go straight through to the message service as the calls are not coming through to us. If email is not possible for you, please leave a message and we will get back to you as soon as we can. Note that if you say "it's Joe, call me back", that is not very useful and your message might slip down the list in preference to someone who gave us a bit more detail on what they wanted to call us about. Just a little bit of information on what the query is about helps us enormously in responding to you in an efficiently manner.

02.01.2022 If you were wondering why we had to change our bank account, it is because we now have officially, legally and financially added Angus to the business. He has been a real asset to Aussie Sapphire for a while but now that he has turned 18, he can be officially added to the team. Angus is in the final stages of completing an apprenticeship but has farming in his blood and looking forward to putting more time into the farm. He also helps out packing orders in the shed when we are swamped. Of course, Angus has been helping since he was tiny as shown in the photos but this makes if official and we are very pleased to welcome him into the business.

02.01.2022 After an excruciatingly long wait, we have finally received some stock of tumblers - not as many as we ordered, not as many as we need but some to keep us going for a little while. We have more orders in now but stock out of the USA is still really challenging and not likely to improve any time soon so what you see here is all we have in the way of Lortone and Thumler tumblers at the moment. If you need a new tumbler, we recommend that you dont leave it too long. https://www.aussiesapphire.com.au/tumbling/tumblers/

01.01.2022 If you planning to attend Minerama or just get out and about in the coming months, check out our Fossicking section for all the gear you will need: https://www.aussiesapphire.com.au/fossicking/
