20.01.2022 The International Space Settlement Design Competition (ISSDC) currently underway (hosted at Kennedy Space Centre) is being run a little differently this year. Australian students from Caringbah Selective Highschool and Catherine McCauley are competing, but with travel restrictions around the globe, there are new obstacles to overcome during the weekend. The usual face to face contact is being replaced with online communication and students now have to incorporate different time zones. This year’s competition will be one to remember! #ausspacedesign #SDCA #ISSDC #spaceset

20.01.2022 This Sunday the 19th of January, SDCA invites you to attend the 2020 Australian Space Design Competition Finals: Student Presentations and Award Ceremony. In January of 2065, the Space Enterprise Applications Consortium (SEAC) which is a lead organisation for the Foundation Society, announce an aggressive plan for a structure in space that will enable completely reversible adjustments to Earth’s climate. Each company competing this weekend will be vying to win the tender for... the contract to design this huge sunshade to block part of the Sun’s radiation on Earth. This is a free event, however, please register here for planning and catering purposes: http://eventbrite.com.au/e/86984558155 #AusSpaceDesign #ASDC2020 #SpaceSet

17.01.2022 We’re pleased to announce qualifying teams for the Australian Space Design Competition Finals to be held in January 2021. Congratulations to all teams who participated in the qualifying competition this year! This year the students were tasked with designing a space settlement to transport cargo and passengers between Earth and Mars. Each team submitted a report of up to 50 pages documenting their design. The top 10 submissions from across Australia have been se...lected based on thoroughness, credibility, balance of technical design aspects and innovation. Due to COVID-19 restrictions around gatherings and travel, the ASDC Finals is likely to take a different format to previous years. SDCA are still investigating all available options, including a virtual competition to allow all Australian students to participate regardless of any restrictions. See more

The winning company was Rockdonnell, which included Australian students from Caringbah High School! We’ve been so impressed with how the students tackled the extra challenges this year of working virtually with other students and professionals from around the world. 05.01.2022 The 2020 Australian Space Design Competition is well underway at the University of Queensland, Brisbane this weekend. We have 12 boys representing the College a...t this competition, accompanied by Mr. Blaik, Mr. Hersey and Ms. Pham. This year, Patrician Brothers College have teamed up with students from Bundaberg State High School and Corinda State High School to form the company, Centaurus. RFT's have been released and the students have been busily working in their departments. A very interesting scenario this year. They need to design a habitat that operates a solar shield to moderate Earth's climate. Very fitting and relevant to the issues we face today. There will be a live feed of the presentations on Facebook tomorrow afternoon if you are interested in watching. Please follow Space Design Competition Australia on facebook for more information.
