19.01.2022 Tunisia Foreign Correspondent Study Tour reflection #2 Romy Gilbert writes: Visiting Tunisia as a journalism student was an experience I will never forget. Not... only is Tunisia a country rich with varying cultures and identities, but it is a country that continues to celebrate its most recent revolution. During our time in Tunisia, we met with certain groups of people who have had a significant effect on how I view the world and more specifically, the global media and journalism industry. From Investigative Journalists in the Arab world who are at the forefront of change, humanitarians from the International Committee of the Red Cross, right down to the locals and traditional people of the land. Every conversation and interaction that took place on the tour was invaluable to me and my personal growth and understanding of the world. The group had a strange dynamic that was challenging at the best of times; however, I believe it is living and working in these conditions which is most beneficial to one's growth. Patience, understanding and kindness will always be, I believe, three important aspects of a happy life and indeed were important to remember and remind ourselves during our trip! So proud and grateful to be given the opportunity by Saba, UTS, DFAT and co to experience something like this. A journey I will hold close to my heart always. 01.01.2022 Once again we send our greatest gratitude to The Council for Australian-Arab Relations - CAAR for their ongoing support. In the past they have helped us to ac...hieve new heights, sending aspiring journalists to Jordan and Dubai. The Foreign Correspondent study tour is supported by the Commonwealth through the Council for Australian-Arab Relations (CAAR), which is part of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, under their 'media interns' flagship program. This year we have introduced a new country, #Tunisia and with the support of CAAR a group of UTS: Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences students will be on their way to the #MiddleEast to report on local stories!
