25.01.2022 An interesting study - completing the survey only took me 2-3 minutes. https://renamepc.stanford.edu/

22.01.2022 Already people have registered to partake in, A Grace of Sense Where Our Inner World and Outer World Meet, from Scotland, England, Italy, Germany, Switzerland..., Iran, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, and United States. That is why I decided to teach two classes, as to accommodate all of our different time zones. Usually, I have to trek around to world to get to people from so many different countries, but this way I can do so leaving a much lighter carbon footprint. Yes, I cannot be with you in person. I cannot work with my hands as a way of helping you to access this material. But, at the same time, as I acclimate to this new medium I find, there is a surprising amount that I can successfully communicate visually and verbally. Eventbrite makes it very easy for you to read about and register for this course. If you give yourself the time to read this material slowly and it sink in, then you will know if this course if for you. If my words speak to you, if they move you, consider studying with me. If you have any questions, write to me. I am not going anywhere! There is a handsome saving if you register by August 15th. I'd be very happy if you would share this post. Be safe. Remain vigilant. Bruce

17.01.2022 I'm sharing this new initiative by my group of local teachers (Alexander Technique Teachers of Greater Philadelphia - ATTGP). With there, seemingly, being no Al...exander Awareness Week this year that we're aware of (ha!), we decided to put on something anyway - in the virtual realm because of....well, you know. It's an experiment, and we will see what happens. Most of the sessions are aimed more at beginners and students, but may also be of interest to teachers, and are open to all. Note these are live events, not recordings. I think this could be an example of how collaborating with other teachers can allow for larger scale events with a potentially greater reach that could help us all. We will see! 15.01.2022 I have started a series of zoom classes for trainees and teachers in Brazil and Argentina. I’d like to open the class to Australian trainees and teachers. It sh...ould be fun to have such a diverse group in one class and for Australians and South Americans to be able to interact and establish connections. It is in the form of a seminar, with time for some discussion as well as some practical work, albeit, of course without hands-on. The content will revisit many of the basic AT concepts, taking a look at old stuff from some new angles. The first class was last week, for Brazilians only! We’ll be kicking off the regular class on Wednesday 26 May with a session on Reciprocity in the Primary Control. Contact me if you want to join in or if you have any questions. It’s free and will be on Wednesday mornings at 8.00am for about an hour and a quarter. (This is 7.00pm in Sth America.) [email protected] or 0421 918 119

12.01.2022 Announcing a free online symposium, open to all interested in Alexander technique as an intervention, entitled Current Scientific Research and Models for the ...Alexander Technique on May 18th at 12 noon Eastern time. This is an opportunity to view how AT is making its way forward and reaching more people through our better understanding of how contemporary science supports and clarifies this transformative work. Consistency in language and a grounding in contemporary, peer-reviewed scientific aspects of the AT principles is really essential for us to advance and enter the mainstream of the general public, removing barriers to access for broader socioeconomic groups in the 21st Century. Dr. Tim Cacciatore, Assoc. Prof. Rajal Cohen, Prof. Ian Loram and Dr. Patrick Johnson will present an overview of what current science has to offer the Alexander Technique. This 2.5 hour in-depth symposium addresses the urgent need for updating our scientific understanding of our work. It also aims to help AT teachers to better communicate with scientists, medical professionals, and AT colleagues. For more information and to sign up, visit: www.alexandertechniquescience.com/symposium2020/ For those who cannot join live, please sign up for information about accessing the post symposium video.https://www.alexandertechniquescience.com/symposium2020/

11.01.2022 A very interesting project - do the survey, it only took me 2-3 minutes. Pain catastrophising is what we say or think ABOUT our pain, as distinct from the actua...l pain itself. This can be an empowering way to use the term, as it gives us agency over our experience and its impact on us. However, using the term as a way of negating the validity of a person's experience of pain, or their response to their pain, is not useful. It could only serve to give the person something to resist or push back against, which could actually heighten their experience of their pain. Finding a new word to use is a good idea, so long as it isn't then ALSO used to make people feel worse about themselves and their condition. I think the intention behind the language we use is as important, if not more important, than the actual word itself, so I think educating medical and non-medical health and wellbeing professionals in the condition of pain and how people respond to it is the most impactful thing we can do. Then I think the language we use also becomes important. See more
