23.01.2022 Public land hunting resumes + licence extensions approved Minister for Agriculture Adam Marshall has announced today that public land hunting will resume fr...om Friday 8 May, with bookings open from today, as part of the easing of COVID-19 movement restrictions. Mr Marshall also announced that R-Licence holders will have the duration of their licences extended by four weeks - the same period public land hunting was suspended. For those hunters whose R-Licence lapsed during the suspension period and do not wish to renew, a pro-rata refund will also be available. Licence holders do not need to apply for the licence extension. We’re currently working through the legislative and administrative steps to process the extension. Thanks for your continued patience we’ll post information to our Facebook page as soon as we have it. Please ensure you adhere to essential travel restrictions and social distancing guidelines. 20.01.2022 Today I released a statement in support of firearms dealers as essential services. Many people, like primary producers to name one, rely on firearms dealers to ensure that they can get on with the day-to-day running of their business. See below for my media release and policy statement.

20.01.2022 SSAA NSW has been working with the Department of Primary Industries and various industry group...s to advocate for hunting to recommence in NSW. We have been and continue to be part of the DPI’s working forum, advocating for the return of hunting. We can now report that this advocacy has produced a positive result and State Forests will reopen for hunting purposes. Minister for Agriculture Adam Marshall has announced that from Friday 8 May 2020, NSW Restricted Game Hunting Licence (R-Licence) holders with a valid written permission issued by DPI will be allowed back into State forests. Access to written permission bookings and hunting maps has been reinstated for R-Licence holders. Current R-Licences will also be extended for four weeks to compensate hunters for the period State forest hunting was suspended. DPI advise that social distancing and gathering guidelines, as well as guidelines around facilities use, must still be maintained. We advise all members to stay up to date on travel guidelines from the Government. SSAA NSW is proud to have helped secure this outcome for law-abiding firearms owners and hunters. , - , - / Media release: https://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au//nsw-hunters-provided-licence-r

14.01.2022 Today I followed through on commitments I made to you all throughout my election campaign. I remained true to my word that I would not support any extractive in...dustry that puts water, our most precious resource at risk. The attacks on my stance on CSG have been a feature of my time in NSW Parliament, the comments that I am anti-jobs, and anti-manufacturing, and that I want families to have high energy bills are nonsense. In almost every session of Parliament I have talked about the need for regional economic stimulus due to drought. I am pro-jobs and pro-manufacturing, but if we fail to adequately protect our groundwater, and the communities and industries that rely on it. All the jobs in the world won’t matter. NSW needs only look to interstate examples to see how badly things can go, once vibrant farming communities have been stripped bare by the Coal Seam Gas industry I don’t want that for Narrabri, I don’t want that for any community in this State. All we have is a promise of a few hundred jobs, but nobody can put a hard number on the amount. The gas industry is highly mechanised, and evidence from other states shows us that gas fields affects jobs in other industries like agriculture. I won’t be lectured by a Government that has systemically stripped jobs out of regional NSW, and is looking to support a project to save face. Gambling with water should not be considered when it is central to everything we do. There are alternate sources of energy including better policy but no alternatives for water. Government raced this through in a very unusual way, just 10 hours after it was passed in the Legislative Council, it was being debated in the Legislative Assembly (LA). I don't think they wanted to give their own constituents a chance to voice their opinion. It was defeated in the LA this evening Ayes 36, Noes 38. If just two Government members crossed the floor, we would have stronger protection for groundwater.
