25.01.2022 When a full bag of fantales chocolates for Saturday breakfast means a trip to Helensburgh Vets to bring them all up but Nurse Mandy makes sure you don’t get any vomit in your lucious locks. Poor Evie!

24.01.2022 Some VIP patients requiring extra special care popped in for a visit today. We will need to check Jenny and Emily’s bags before they leave

23.01.2022 Everyone meet Alfie! Last week his Mum gave us a call about Alfie’s sore toe. During a crazy kitten hour at home, Alfie stubbed one of his toes and managed to fracture it. We all know how much that hurts. With some good sedation on board, Dr Ksenja was able to set it back in place and Alfie went home with a big bandage. ... Alfie has been told by Dr Ksenja that he needs lots of rest, pain management and re-bandaging and to keep his toes clear of all furniture edges. He will be re checked with more radiographs when the little man is old enough for de-sexing.

23.01.2022 With the escarpment and bush land being so close we are lucky to have so many reptiles around our local area. Because the roads are nice and warm this often ends up as a perfect sun baking spot therefore causing quite a few hit by car patients coming in. Please take care on the roads and look out for our cold blooded friends

21.01.2022 Happy International Vet Nurse Day 2020! Today we celebrate our amazing team of nurses. These talented ladies are compassionate, knowledgeable, intelligent and caring (and don’t mind a bit of fun). ... It’s takes a very special person to fulfill this role and we say a big thank you for all that you do. (Song - 9 to 5, Dolly Parton)

09.01.2022 Bones often present problems to pets that we see in the clinic, whether it be dental fractures, gastrointestinal issues or obstructions. Recently, poor Kya presented to Dr Alex, choking on a large knuckle of bone and struggling to breathe. She was immediately anaesthetised so that Alex could put his hand down Kya’s throat and pull the bone out. The bone removed measured 15cm long and 8cm in diameter! Kya was left with some trauma to the cartilage in her throat but was very lucky to survive. Because Kya is a gulper, Kya’s owners have wisely decided to no longer feed her bones.

08.01.2022 Today is World Diabetes Day. Do you know the symptoms to look out for in your dog or cat? If you are concerned please contact either clinic to make an appointment with one of our vets.

05.01.2022 Who can relate to this

05.01.2022 This is just some of the native wildlife we have had in to both clinics over the past month. With the weather heating up wildlife are starting to make more of an appearance. A big thank you to our local WIRES volunteers who do a fabulous job.

04.01.2022 WARNING This post may be an emotional trigger as Dr Ksenja discusses the difficult decision of euthanasia of a much loved pet. While it is a difficult subject to talk about, we hope this valuable information may help you in your time of need. ... We are always available to help guide you and provide support as your pet reaches end of life.

02.01.2022 Everyone loves a box of chocolates . Bella popped in this morning with her babies for check ups and kisses

01.01.2022 Even the staff pets do naughty things. Meet Jenny’s dog Penny who ate a fish hook while at the beach on Sunday. A quick X-ray showed the hook in the stomach so she was taken straight into surgery to remove it. She is at home making a great recovery.

01.01.2022 The season is here. Ticks are active and unfortunately our clinics are still seeing too many pets that are affected. A variety of products - see below - are available and you can choose from monthly, three monthly or even 4 monthly applications. Even better news that now cats can be protected. Cat flea and tick prevention is a spot on preventative which will allow all you lovely cat parents to keep all of your fingers attached Do we have an even better news for you?... We Do? When you buy preventative at the Helensburgh and / or Austinmer clinics you will get regular reminders for your next dose. Call our Austinmer clinic on 4268 3353 or the Helensburgh clinic on 4294 2508 for your pet’s preventative See more
