24.01.2022 ALHF Member Renewals for the 2020/2021 financial year are now open! Despite the fact that much of our activity has come to a halt and that there is no definitive date we can set at this stage for those activities to resume, we still need to push forward and keep the Federation and member groups in order and running so that we are ready to leap back into our hobby when the relevant restrictions are lifted. We are, however, very aware that many members may be experiencing finan...cial difficulties, and that this circumstance might extend past the COVID-19 restrictions. To help assist members to remain financial and current, the ALHF have reduced the cost of membership to only $10 per person this year. As always, there is no fee for groups, and the $10 will still provide you with the full suite of three insurance policies: Public Liability, Personal Accident Coverage and Associations Liability. We anticipate that the fees will return to normal the next renewal period. We look forward to hearing from all our member groups in the coming weeks. ALHF members will find more information on the the member-only ALHF group page. Take care, everyone, and stay safe. Louise McNally Australasian Living History Federation - President. See more

19.01.2022 What keeps our combatants safe and proficient while undertaking metal weapons combat? Comprehensive rules, respect for your opponent and teammates, and regular training! Shoutout to acknowledge the 10th Anniversary of Berrima intergroup trainings! Sustaining any activity for ten years is a feat in itself - especially one that aims to encourage interaction, inclusion and safety between metal weapons groups from both ALHF and other bodies.. This training takes place a couple of... times a year at Berrima Park, NSW. Great work to all involved and attending! Thanks to Steve Lyons for taking and providing the photos! See more

18.01.2022 Hats off to NVG Jorth Gar who put an amazing amount of hard work into their 2019 Viking Culture Day at Tambourine Mountain QLD in August this year! This is a large event (organised by the group themselves) that attracts about 1000 attendees through the gate (despite battling with high winds and a fire ban this year!). These amazing images were taken by Kevin Litchfield of Kevlyn Imaging.

16.01.2022 So many great displays and encampments at the Abbey Medieval Festival in Queensland this weekend! Well done to all reenactors and groups who displayed! Delighted to see entire ALHF groups and also individual members who travelled to support other ALHF and QLHF groups - a wonderful vibe and such great energy.

16.01.2022 Missing your medieval events over Easter? Gather round - we're holding a Virtual Medieval Gathering full of livefeed presentations and a tavern night over the Easter weekend! All reenactors and living historians (and members of the public with an interest in history) are welcome to come gather round the virtual hearth and enjoy the weekend with like minded souls. Gathering awaits you! https://www.facebook.com/groups/2363508143953269/

15.01.2022 This October saw the 2019 St Ives Medieval Faire in NSW. It was amazing to see 20 ALHF groups (and members of even more attending with other groups) present and bringing their best Living History efforts to this event - the quality of displays and demonstrations was wonderful to see. There was so much on offer at this premier event that it is hard to get to everything on the program, even in two days! It is, however, a terrific opportunity to touch base with local and interstate groups and reenactors and see how gratifying the hobby can be! Amazing work by everyone, and of course a big thank you to the team that pulls this event together..

10.01.2022 It's not every year that a group gets to celebrate 30 years! A very Happy Birthday to Fire & Steel in August this year in NSW. A wonderful gathering with great people and a delicious feast - everyone had a great time! Many thanks to the group for their hospitality, and well done on an amazing achievement.... 30 years of reenactment is incredible!

09.01.2022 Reenactors love local events, and Winterfest - July this year - in NSW this year was no exception. Going along to events like these mean the general public know who theLiving History groups in their area are, what they do and how much fun reenacting can be! Well done everyone who attended!

08.01.2022 October saw a regular Qld private event - the Spring Hunt, a reenactor only event held by the Medieval Irish Celtic Knights in Lowood, Queensland. Despite the heat and the punishing dry, everyone had a great time at this relaxed and chilled event, with attendees taking part in a great range of activities including (amongst heaps more) archery, crafting, fishing, swimming, markets, soap making, a hand-fasting, trebuchets, puppet shows for the kids and a huge favourite - viking boat races.

07.01.2022 Hi everyone - our little Virtual Gathering project has gone global, and interest in the presentations given by reenactors has grown the group to over 2000 people in a week <3 If you have medievalist tendencies, or would just like to see what Living Historians are getting up to, please stay at home and join us on the couch this Easter Weekend - all are welcome and we'd love to see you! www.facebook.com/groups/2363508143953269/

06.01.2022 Our Virtual Medieval Gathering is now live, folks! Fill your cup and come and join us!

05.01.2022 Our renewal season is nearly complete with 95% of our ALHF member groups renewed as we move into the 2020-2021 financial year! COVID restrictions have meant you won't have seen your local reenactors out and about at events and festivals this year, so starting this week we're going to show you what they are all about with a group showcase! Stay tuned to hear more about ALHF groups around the country!

03.01.2022 Ancient Roman Reenactors Victoria ran a public display on the South Lawn at University of Melbourne in September. A display two years in the making, and working around several obstacles, ARRV presented a collection of seige and engineering engines, a food display where punters could try authentic Lucanian sausage with spelt bread and other delicacies, a cosmetics, hair and jewellery display and a weapons and drill display. Well done, ARRV - hard work paid off and the public loved it!
