21.01.2022 Today we are featuring The Anderson Tartan The name Anderson comes from : Son of Andrew, MacAndrew in the Highlands and more commonly Anderson in the Lowlands. Around 1400 the MacAndrews are said to have come to Badenoch from Moidart. Hence the Boar of Badenoch in their clan crest. Anderson is the 7th most common surname in Scotland. The Anderson Tartan is unique among all of the Scottish tartans, because it is the only tartan to have seven colors. All other tartans have six or less. Because of this, the Anderson tartan must be woven on a special loom.

20.01.2022 How exciting that bookings and orders are starting to flow once again. We received this order for a Cunningham Modern Kilt recently, and this morning i have finished putting the pleats in place and tacking them, and now after checking the measurements, will begin stitching the pleats in place with small stitches on each pleat. Stay posted for pictures of the final product. Did you know that there are more than 6000 stitches in a hand stitched kilt.

13.01.2022 Todays tartan is a classic generic tartan - Australian National The Australian National Tartan is a stunning tartan designed with the colours of Australia's past and present in mind. Each thread colour and the thread count have been carefully created and woven into a tartan that truly represents our great nation. Designed by Betty Johnston of the House of Tartan, Canberra, to be a national tartan for Australia. RED, WHITE and BLUE : These colours stem from our National flag a...nd from the time that Captain James Cook first raised the flag (Union Jack) on Australian soil. The six white stripes represent the Southern Cross constellation, which is unique to this hemisphere. This also includes our Federation or Commonwealth Star. Red and White stripes represent the Red Cross of St George (England) on a white background. GREEN and GOLD : Green and gold were formally proclaimed by the Australian Government as National colours in 1984 after many requests were made to have traditional sporting colours. BLACK : The Black stripes in the tartan represents Australian's early beginnings as a convict settlement- a dark area of our history." See more

10.01.2022 Customers often ask about mixing kilts with suits for their wedding. We think they blend just fine, its your wedding, you choose the outfits that suit your day. Here for bride Alarna, we outfitted her dad and brother, and had some other guests in their own kilts as well. Such a lovely acknowledgement of their Scottish Heritage.

08.01.2022 We've all seen the various family photos that are re-created many years later. When Kieran came and saw us last year wanting to re-create a childhood photo with his brother Owen, during his wedding we were delighted to be able to supply them with the outfits they needed. #kilts #meninkilts #tartan #scottishwedding #kilthire #groom #recreate #weddingkilts #buchanan #brothers
