17.01.2022 The Australian Federation of Friends of Museums (AFFM) is delighted to host the 2020 World Federation of Friends of Museums (WFFM) Annual General Assembly and Congress in Canberra, Australia’s capital city. Surrounded by native bush, this culturally vibrant young city is enriched by multiple national cultural institutions dotted around the central Lake Burley Griffin. AFFM member institutions in Canberra include the National Museum of Australia, National Gallery of Australi...a, the National Library of Australia, the National Portrait Gallery, the Australian National Botanic Gardens, the National Arboretum, the National Film and Sound Archive, the Australian National University Drill Hall Gallery and the Canberra Museum and Gallery. The program includes visits to National institutions, guided tours by Friends groups and a range of networking and social functions. The Congress is an excellent chance to meet like-minded friends and members from across the world. For participants there is a program of talks and lectures across a range of topics and the opportunity to hear from leading Australian gallery and museum professionals.



14.01.2022 2017 was a busy year for the AFFM! As we have revamped our online presence and look to further promote a Young Friends of Museums initiative, this review looks back on all the events and topics discussed over the past year. This includes a note from president Jane Lomax-Smith, an update from our Adelaide AGM, and a report on the World Congress of Friends of Museums conference held in Verona. Also included are features on some of the most interesting exhibitions our cultural institutions have to offer.

05.01.2022 Registration are now open for the World Federation of Friends of Museums Congress in Canberra. There is a special program for Young Friends that will be of interest to any younger members of your organisation. In attendance will be seven young members from across the world who have been sponsored to attend through the WFFM Carla Bossi Scholarship.
