New waterway rule commenced on 16 December 2019 for Port Phillip Bay Irregular riding is defined as:... -Weaving or diverting course that another person would be unable to predict. - Surfing down or jumping over or across any waves, wake or wash. - Freestyling, which includes manoeuvres such as sharp turns, circular or semi-circular operation of the personal watercraft. The PWC rule, while prohibiting irregular riding requires all PWC operators to: - Navigate a PWC in the safest most direct course from and toward the shore, including: a boat ramp, berthing facility, jetty, pier or mooring -PWC operators must avoid any irregular riding of the PWC within the 5-knot speed restriction zones including donuts, circles or weaving -Changes in direction to avoid other waterway users (i.e. swimmers) is permitted
