25.01.2022 The ACF Executive has met electronically and has unanimously decided to postpone all casting events until 31st April 2020. The events in this period are 1. Sunshine Open and Southern Cross Challenge events scheduled for 19th April 2020 at Red Tag pool, Fairfield 2. Cock o’ Walk and Southern Cross Challenge events scheduled for 26th April 2020 at Red Tag pool, Fairfield... The ACF will advise further changes as the situation develops. It is hoped that we can schedule the above events, and the previously notified Southern Open and Southern Cross Challenge events postponed from the 29th March 2020, to dates later in the year. As is the case with other sports, this will depend on advice at the time.

15.01.2022 TRACKING PROBLEMS WHEN FLY CASTING? This setup can help you.a lot! You need a thin and smooth rope, some kind of simple wrist band (I'm using velcro), a ring b...etween the wristband and the rope and two points to tie your rope to. If you want to cast with a full rod and line, you need two poles in the ground that will allow your line to travel freely (if you're using two threes, the line will NOT be free, unless the rope is long enough). The first step is to cast WITHOUT disturbing the rope in any direction. The next step is to try to let the rod point in the same direction as the rope after the back cast and forward cast stops. Start without casting, maybe with only half a rod. Start with slow mo (or Tai Chi) and try to FEEL every inch of the movement. Any time you start feeling increased friction between the rope and the ring, you know your're doing something wrong. Increase the speed gradually until you're using "normal" fly casting accelerations. If you get the hang of it, use a full rod and line and start casting short lines...., then longer lines..., then.. 03.01.2022 Given the current community restrictions and casting pool availability in Melbourne, the Australian Casting Federation wishes to advise that all events listed on the the 2020 ACF casting syllabus are cancelled. We had postponed events up to 31st May 2020 to later in the year but it is appropriate that the season be cancelled. I look forward to seeing everyone at a casting event in 2021.

03.01.2022 Trainingslager mit den Schweizer Weltmeistern Am letzten Juli Wochenende trafen sich die Nachwuchssportler aus Baden-Württemberg um vom Nationaltrainer und Welt...meister Markus Kläuser trainiert zu werden. Mit dabei seine Frau Alena, die ebenfalls Weltmeisterin ist. Speziell in den Weitwurfdisziplinen D2 Fliege Weit, D5 Einhand Weit, D7 Zweihand Weit und D9 Muli Weit, wurde an der Technik gefeilt. Die Nachwuchswerfer wurden in zwei Altersgruppen eingeteilt und nach dem warm machen der Muskulatur ging es mit dem Weitwurf mit einer Hand und dem 7,5 Gramm Gewicht los. Bei dieser Disziplin wird der Drehwurf erlernt. Dieser weist viele Elemente des Diskuswurfes der Leichtathleten auf. Das Gewicht sollte langsam beschleunigt und anschließend mit der Körperdrehung gleichmäßig bis zum Abwurf auf maximale Geschwindigkeit gebracht werden. Und darin beginnt schon die Fleißarbeit, immer wieder üben mit Videoanlayse bis der Bewegungsablauf und der Abwurfwinkel passt. Die Bewegungsabläufe wurden bei allen Disziplinen in ihre Einzelelemente zerlegt und gesondert geübt. Da wird von den Jugendlichen ein hohes Maß an Disziplin abverlangt. Mit je 60 - 90 Minuten wurden die Disziplinen abgearbeitet. In einer Abschlusseinheit wurden die vier Zieldisziplinen angerissen, darin speziell D1 Fiege Ziel Einhand. Hier zeigte die Iffezheimer Nachwuchssportlerin Jessica Bosler ihr Talent. Mit einer sauberen 100 von 100 möglichen Punkten gab es wenig zu verbessern. Gute Ablagebilder der Fliegenschnur und alle Treffer in die Mitte der 65 cm Wasserschalen. Alle Werfer machen sich für ihr Heimtraining in ihrem Trainingsbuch Notizen der wichtigsten Eckpunkte. Nun sollen sie bis Ende September an ihren Fehlerbildern üben und bei einem Ein-Tageskurs wird der Fortschritt überprüft. See more

02.01.2022 Winter came to a pause here up north, so I took the chance to try the PULD challenge. With the SA MED #5. I had 4-5 casts in the 41-42 meter range and the longe...st cast made all the way to 42,9. I could feel that it was a long time since I did some Trout Distance casting. But quite happy with the distance any way :)

02.01.2022 Been out for some casting geekiness this afternoon, in particular a test looking at rod leg tension. I cast a shooting head (one cut from a #5 line). I then c...ast the same line but cut the running line at my hauling hand so the head and bit of running line flew untethered every cast (not the greatest idea for fishing by the way :-) ). So is rod leg tension important for a good fly cast? (James) See more
