My wonderful mum looked after my cherub so we could get planning and she has also been hand crafting the most divine pieces for this new venture. Rural women who are innovators, creators, farmers, farmers wives, mothers, homemakers, entrepreneurs and all the other incredible things a rural lady does in a day. ... Blessed is an understatement of how I feel to be a rural town gal who had the chance to enjoy early childhood on the land and continue to live in rural communities because there is just something special about them. As a rural business owner I love a day that celebrates all that we strive for so here is a few snaps of the ladies that make my tribe for Billie & Grace and Sassafras Dungog. 16.01.2022 The answer to my most frequently asked questions: Do we make clothes for boys. I can completely understand why we get asked this question frequently. If you take a browse of our social media pages and website you would be excused for thinking we only cater to girls . The truth is we actually make the most handsome clothes for the little men in your life but unfortunately I’m super slack on sharing them with you or even taking photos of them. I guess that’s because I don’t... have a little boy model on hand like I do a girl . So let me share with you what we do make for your handsome little men and I’ll also make a promise to you that as of next week I will start to share with you our boys things on a regular basis. It’s a symbol of strong beautiful women from my heritage, rural women living out their dreams and doing things in a more sustainable and ethical way. It’s a dream you have helped bring to life. Something I only dreamt would one day be what it is today. ... It’s an honour for me to use the names of 2 very special ladies for my business whilst also having my mum creating the garments alongside me. The icing on the cake is that we now get to share this journey in a beautiful shop front with Sharon the amazing owner of Sassafras Dungog and my dear friend where together we’ve been able to bring the dream of a children’s wonderland shop to life. 10.01.2022 It’s a Peg Bag making Sunday night here. I hear you ask why peg bags? Well firstly we love all things sustainable and slow fashion so they do fit that ethos. ... However the actual reason I decided to start making them was because my beautiful nana in law gifted me one of her very own (verrrrry old) peg bags to see what I might like to do with it. Nan is in her 90s and I feel blessed to have her in my life and to hear of the stories of an error gone by. Of how slow living wasn’t called that it was just living. How making their own clothes and mending them over and over were normal and how having set days as washing days was what you did. With divine large cane baskets (I was gifted the glorious basket too) and their peg bags around their waist they could easily peg multiple loads of washing out with the kids playing in the back yard or one sitting in the cane basket upon the washing. The peg bag gave them both hands free but also somewhere to keep their wooden pegs out of the weather so they would last many many seasons. So I took that beautiful peg bag that had seen many years of washing days and I crafted a slightly bigger slightly more sturdy & modern peg bag that still had all the old world beauty to it. These peg bags have been super popular and make washing not only easier on your back, better for your pegs longevity and bring a touch of style to the task. 10.01.2022 I was asked this question this morning from a very special lady and it got me thinking. So what is it you would like to be actually doing in your life 12months from now? One of mine is that I will be back running to complete a half marathon again. I’ve been sitting on the fence dreaming of this and many other things for too long so now it’s time to just get on with it. I also have some very exciting visions for how Billie&Grace will look One Year from now and shall I just say it’s going to be verrrry exciting for you all.

08.01.2022 The answer to our 2nd most asked question - Do you make tween clothes? This is a question we love receiving as we get so much joy out of making clothes for tweens. It’s an age gap that parents fall me is hard to dress. You don’t want them looking like mini adults yet but they also don’t want to look like they are wearing little kids clothes anymore. ... So the answer is a big YES we make tween clothes for both boys and girls right upto size 12/14. This is another area I need to work on photographing as again I don’t have an on hand model so tend to just post off the beautiful garments to their new homes and not have photos of them. 08.01.2022 It’s been such a magical few days and nights in my sewing room. Creating the new pieces for you all for Spring/Summer launch. It’s going to be one heck of a week next week with the opening of our shop front coinciding with the launch on the same day ... To be really raw and honest with you Mum and I haven’t stopped sewing in weeks. (Mums on strict rest orders atm with an injury but thank goodness for her we have a lot of beautiful garments all ready to go. 07.01.2022 I feel blessed and super nervous all in one for my story of my journey to becoming a mum including my endo causing infertility, the long journey to becoming parents and then the struggle I had with settling into motherhood as well as Mabels health issues. My hope is that by sharing my story with Steph at Motherland Australia that it gives some hope to those suffering through infertility because I know how terribly lonely that journey can be. 06.01.2022 I was honoured to be interviewed by Steph for Motherland Australia podcast. It was very nerve wracking to share my story of our struggle to become parents and then the ups and downs of motherhood but hopefully it might help another rural mum out there struggling with infertility or not having a smooth journey in motherhood itself. Oh and a little side note I had Mum brain for a minute in the interview and Mabel was bathed weekly not monthly whilst in her harness for anyone... that catches that mum brain glitch of mine Anyway if you haven’t listened to motherland podcasts do yourself a favour and listen to all of the fantastic interviews Steph has done, there truly are so many inspiring rural mums out there.

02.01.2022 Being of service! How will you be of service to someone else tomorrow? Im in the sewing room creating beautiful luxe linen pieces for our next big surprise that we will be sharing with you in the coming weeks. ... While I’m sewing I love to listen to inspiring podcasts and I’ve just been bowled over by the one I’m listening too and needed to share with you. Living a life of service. Always coming from a place of having self love for ourselves (because if we don’t have that we can’t give it to others) but also a place of wanting to serve others. I’ve lived my life doing my best to be of service to others but today something changed (thanks Juliette Scott) for another amazing session), then something else clicked when I heard this tonight. This type of service isn’t one you turn on and off, isn’t one you think of once every few weeks, it’s a choice you make to be of service to others every single day. In these very different times we are living in right now we get to choose how we can go through these times and how we show up each day. I hear you, some days are tough, some days you feel the grind but life is about choices. Just like the choice I’ve made to make my fashion business as sustainable and responsible as I possibly can rather than just another fashion label I am now choosing to be of service every darn day. Even on those days that I’m not feeling it, even on those days that have me wanting to retreat, even on those days when I’m having a self pity party. Especially on those days I’ll choose to show up and serve. 02.01.2022 It’s a big day for us here at Billie & Grace! A day of joy and celebration and nerves, hoping it all goes well. Today I delivered a beautiful bundle of our hand crafted ladies linen clothing to a gorgeous boutique who we are just so honoured to have our clothes in their space. ... After a morning of feeling anxious and worrying if I had everything perfect enough I just got on with it and delivered them with pride. Then on the way home I decided a little clean treat from Stella Bistro was in order to truly celebrate a big achievement for our little biz. I can’t wait to share with you later today all about where this special boutique is and some sneaky pics. X

It’s to go with a set of matching dresses I have made for a beautiful customer of ours but it’s a little extra special because the darling cherub that this one is for will have a pavlik harness hidden underneath it just like my baby girl did when she was that age. It’s tough, the little ones are miserable in the harness and it’s not much fun for anyone so hopefully this dress will bring a bit of magic to ...her Christmas.
