19.01.2022 Something to work up for 2021?

19.01.2022 So I was going to edit this dance clip but after watching it many times it was good to see the process of the dance evolving. A new dance by Keith (a member of our group who has won many dance writing competitions in Australia and overseas) who was taking us throught the dance called 'Joyous'. Written for one of our dancers Joy, for a special birthday. It really works well as they learn the pattern. Some cracking tunes to keep folk moving. On with the dance 'Joyous'.

14.01.2022 It has been a while since our last post. Hope you are all staying safe. This may put a smile on your dial. A dance called Love and Kisses which we introduced to Australia may years ago and has become a favourite for the Australian Colonial and Folk Dancers. Party time!

11.01.2022 The process of learning a new dance is a challenge and keeps things interesting. Also the music plays a large part in how the dance works. For some, a new dance Wooloware Waltz. If you don't want to watch close your eyes and enjoy the music. What do you think. Did the dancers get lost in the music?

09.01.2022 We are not able to dance in a group for a time but here are some nice waltzes to dance around the kitchen. Look out for some other group photos to be posted soon.

08.01.2022 Mood lighting! Some folk have a rest as the other try a new dance. Always something new to dance but we love the old favourites.

07.01.2022 Lots of dancing at Australiana Pioneer Village today. This is part of the Old Lancers. Lots of versions of the Lancers. We are the only dance group in Australian dancing this version and keeping some of these other selective dances alive so take your partner for The Old Lancers.

06.01.2022 So no electricity in our dance hall since last Tuesday. Lots of houses in Sydney without power for four days and still counting. We may not have power to our hall for a few weeks but the dancing still goes on. Plenty of light and great music to keep us moving. Mood lighting! Such a good night I understand we will do the same for our Christmas Party.

06.01.2022 One of our Dancers think she has got this (look close at the start) but does she? You will have to watch to the end to find out! Be gentle - this is social dance and we are having fun. The dance is Mediocre Seven written by Peter ? (Don help me out) from Canberra. Don taught it to our group and if memory is correct this version has an extra kick to the dance. Keep with me folk as we also go wide angle.

02.01.2022 The world and Covid-19. Life has changed. Our last dance night before things shut down was on Friday 31st January 2020. We were working very hard towards a spectacular dance displays & dance workshop for the National Folk Festival in Canberra ACT, Australia over the Easter long weekend. More on this later. * After dance class I like to put on some music that folk might like to be part of - no pressure. Then, some listening background music while we enjoy supper together. Some dance while others wash hands, cool down, put out chairs and get ready for supper. This is what happened.

01.01.2022 Next dance demo will be Sunday 24th November 2019 in Main St Australiana Pioneer Village from 10.am Come and join in some of the dances.
