Legal Eagles lead the comp on 47 points with Mitre 10 1 point behind. On the day Mitre 10 sprung a major defeat on the ladder leader and won 16 sets and 122 games to Legal Eagles 10 sets and 111 games. There were 4 tie-breaker sets with the teams winning 2 each.... It was the Mitre 10 men who lead their team to victory with Chris Murphy, James Osborne, Chris Brown and John Henderson all winning their 3 sets. Mitre 10 won 8 of the 12 mens sets. Ladies shared their sets 2 each and in the mixed and spins Mitre 10 won 6 of the 10 sets. For Legal Eagles Naomi Ritchie and John Sibree kept their team in the hunt by winning 3 sets each none the less Legal Eagles slip to third on the ladder. In the match between AgSpares and Peppin Planners the result was a strong win to AgSpares 18 sets and 134 games to 8 sets and 92 games for Peppin. The strong win advanced AgSpares from third to second but has left Peppin on the bottom of the ladder. It was an all round performance for AgSpares. They won the ladies 4 nil, the men 9 to 3 and shared the mixed and spin 5 all. So they won 18 sets and 134 games to 8 sets and 92 games for Peppin Planners. 3 set winners were Aiden Dellar, Jack Eastman, Hugh Landale and Jon Gatacre - looks like the Pretty Pine mafia ! while Heidi Plant and Julia Druitt starred in the strong performance by the ladies. So the comp will remain close at the top. TA Maher needed to bring in a reserve for their number one player & found Bill Dudley available as harvest was yet to commence. Dudley jumped the opposition... players and won 3 of his 4 sets to get the TA Maher team off to a great start. Monique Gordon returned to the courts after a layoff and straightway won 19 games and 3 sets while John James kept on keeping on and won 20 games and 3 sets. Annie Romanin John Sibree and Pam Wells were best each winning 2 sets. Legal Eagles look to have a rising star in their team when Michael Pisasale won 24 games and his 4 sets to hold his team together. Elders struggled in the windy conditions and while Jarryd Lowry and Peter Rae won 3 sets each the team was only able to win 8 sets for the day and find themselves off the pace with 61 sets to date. 06.01.2022 New Committee and AGM Update DENILIQUIN LAWN TENNIS CLUB AGM Sunday 21st June 2020 30 members turned out for the AGM of the Deniliquin Lawn Tennis Club on Sunday. President John Henderson reported that year had been one of achievement even after advent of the convin19.... Membership across the Club had increased in the senior club members, the Junior Club steady, Croquet Club, and Tuesday Ladies steady. With the new lights allowing night tennis 80 members were playing on Wednesday evening with modified rules that are termed Fast 6. Financially the Club has not been badly effected as yet as the Ute Muster last year was a great success and somewhat covered the loss and expected boost from the 4 day Easter Tennis Tournament being cancelled. The President was thankful for the assistance of the his Committee but particularly thanked the great effort over many years of past president and committee member Lourene Liebenberg. John said Lourene has been dynamic and enthusiastic in all aspects of the club, including being a driving force behind maintaining the Souvlaki Stand at the Ute Muster, noting we are one of the few local organisations still operating a stall. Lourene along with Dean and Barry has been a key component in the organisation of the Easter tournament. A new Committee was elected for the next 12 months. New chums on the Committee are Felicity Dye, Mark Ritchie and Bill Dudley which gives the committee a country feel. The exec team are the old hands of Clive Gow, Harley Moore, John Henderson and Nick Metcalf. The treasurers position is vacant for the time being with a suitable replacement required for Colleen Henderson being the first job of the committee. The Committee have identified the completion of the 6 new courts and additional works as the first job they need to see completed. Then the placement of lights rescued from the North Tennis Club around the Lawn Club. The Committee has committed to continuing their stall at the Ute Muster and also to running the Western Riverina Championships next Easter if possible.

05.01.2022 DENILIQUIN LAWN TENNIS CLUB Saturday afternoon Comp Summer Comp starts tomorrow The teams have been announced for the Saturday afternoon competition which gets underway tomorrow. Players have been selected into 5 teams each with 5 or 6 players. Each Saturday the 5 teams will play and for the first couple of weeks and each team will play 4 players.... In a major change to the Saturday format each set will be played on a spin. So this season the player will play 3 sets but against their opponent but will play with the 3 players from the other 3 teams. Results are collated and the result will be scored as in previous seasons. Secretary Harley Moore pointed out that the advantage of this format is that each player will play their sets against an opponent at their graded level and their partner will be at a similar graded level. Harley also pointed out that as has been the practice for the past season or 2 the grading is non-sexist. All players are graded against each other. The Comp will commence tomorrow at 2 pm when a short meeting to start off so that players understand this new format. Teams are listed below with each team captain phone number. Please contact your captain and advise them of your availability for tomorrow. Competition fees are due now and most players still need to pay the annual subscriptions.

03.01.2022 DENILIQUIN LAWN TENNIS CLUB Saturday Comp - Round 1 - Saturday 5th September First matches played on the hard courts Five teams consisting of 28 players got Round 1 of the Saturday comp underway in near perfect spring conditions on Saturday. The new format didn't suit all players or even all teams however there was some good tennis played and the differences from the format of previous comps were also appreciated.... As predicated by the Club secretary Harley Moore on Friday this format gives generally a more even matching of tennis ability over the course of the day. Players lined up to play 4 sets with first to 6 games the winner. So over all there are 40 sets to be decided. After some adding up Peppin Planners got off to the best start for the comp winning 10 sets and 82 games. Taskers Battlers and Elders both won 9 sets each, while Legal Eagles and TA Maher won 7 and 5 sets each. There was only 1 players able to win all her sets for the day and so was a 24 game winner - Annie Romanin. Melbourne escapee Amy Moore and young gun Bede Orr were able to win 23 of their 24 games. All sets were played on the newly completed hard courts. Players were surprised by consistency of the bounce in both height and the lack of deviation off the direction when comparing with the lawn courts. John Sibree commented that it was like the difference between playing in the US open on hard courts or playing Wimbledon on lawn. Players noted that they would have to change their tactics to suit the new surface. It was also noticed that players who were able to put plenty of spin on their shots were getting a benefit of their return shots moving off the line. Club president Clive Gow thanked all the new players for joining up for this comp. He advised that there were still a couple of spots left to fill in 2 teams and invited any late nominations to contact the Club. With 2 or 3 more players he said we could expand Saturday tennis to 50 sets and use all of the 6 new courts. The Wednesday evening comp will start after the school holidays and the switching over to daylight saving. The Comp will get underway from Wednesday 14th October.
