As the tour draws to a close we would like to thank our hosts the Swiss Volleyball Federation, the Netherlands Volleyball Federation, the Swedish Volleyball Federation as well as Volvo Cars Bern for helping our teams get around during their stay. Special thanks to coaches Margo, Myles, Jayson and Brad as well as the European coaches who assisted our athletes over the past 3 weeks. However the biggest thanks has to go to the parents and support networks back in Australia who have allowed their children to experience such a new and rewarding opportunity. Many new friendships have been made and skills learnt on and off the court. Safe travels back to AUS.

17.01.2022 A tough day at the office yesterday for Ky and Jarrah at the World U21 Championships in Udon Thani, Thailand. After beating China they lost a tight contest against Austria going down 21-23, 18-21 ending their campaign. The Main Draw started today with both other pairings in action. Bec and Alisha went down 2-0 to a tough Argentinian side. Mark and James kicked off their pool play against Slovakia just a short time ago and also went down 2-0. Both pairings looking to bounce b...ack tomorrow. Follow along with results: http://u21.2019.beachvolleyball.fivb.com/en
17.01.2022 Mixed emotions so far in Udon Thani. Bec and Alisha fought hard and came away with the goods against China in their last pool game to finish 3rd and progress through to the round of 24 later today against Canada. Mark and James left it all out on the court in their round of 24 match up against Russia. After winning the 1st set the boys came agonisingly close to having match point in the 2nd set. The Russians held on and went on to win the 3rd set. That ends the boys campaig...n unfortunately but they showed great Aussie fighting spirit throughout the tournament.
16.01.2022 3 Tours , 87 athletes, 31 staff and over 100 games of Volleyball. Its been a busy month for the Volleyball Australia Junior Development Program. A month which saw 3 tours occur in the months of April and May. The Youth Boys age group experienced their first international tour to Thailand with 3 teams competing in the Thai Volleyball U21 National Championships. This was followed by 2 teams for the Junior Womens age group experiencing the same tour. We also had our Junior M...ens squad compete in the rebirth of the ARAFURA Games in Darwin. 2 indoor teams competed with one team coming away with a bronze medal. The squad then broke into 12 beach pairs with Ky Landers and Caleb Lampard coming away with the Silver after a tough fought final. With all athletes back home safely its a good chance to recognise their achievements and thank the dedication of our volunteer staff and the support the family and friends have provided either back home or courtside whilst the athletes have been on tour. Its an exciting time for the JDP and we cant wait to work towards the next opportunity! #weareone

05.01.2022 Aussie boys beat Brazil at Youth Olympic Games. James Takken and Mark Nicolaidis have had a great start to their campaign at the Youth Olympic Games Beach Volle...yball in Buenos Aires. The boys quoted, We beat Brazil! We are ecstatic to have won our first game of the tournament. We are currently preparing hard for our next game against Bolivia tomorrow. They are a strong team so we know that we will have to be very competitive and stick to our game to beat them. We are currently loving the tournament, seeing such large home crowds has been a great experience and something very memorable to take from this event. We as a country won our first medals of the games yesterday which has just fuelled our desire to keep winning! The girls Tiaan Smith and Lauren Taylor unfortunately had a tough start against favourites from the USA. Warming up was quite daunting. I've never played on a show court before, let alone in front of thousands of people! Taylor explained. But I'm quite glad we had that match, now I know how it feels to play in front of a crowd of that size, where you don't have much time between points and have to collect yourself and keep a positive mindset." Her team mate Smith agreed, "I think playing in front of such a massive crowd did get to me a bit. It was a good first game although a little disappointing, but a good learning experience for both of us, so now we know what to expect next time."
