24.01.2022 Real L.I.F.E. story: She has the sweetest face, the biggest smile. Youd never know the heartache hidden in her heart. Her name is Manee*, just 6 years old when she came into Eden House this year. She came in so hungry for hugs and love. Both were sadly lacking in her family. Her real father had deserted Manee and her mother, and soon Manees mother brought home a man and told Manee, this is your new father. But father he was not, if by being father, it means helping an...d loving your children. He seemed to hate Manee, hitting her often. If you saw Manee, youd know how awful that really is. She is so tiny it is hard to imagine someone wanting to beat someone so little, so defenceless. Her mother is not there to defend her as during the day, she is hired to work in someone elses fields. Manees future looked bleak until Eden House came to her village. After assessing the needs, after talking and more talking with the mother and stepfather, Manee was released into the care of Eden House. A safe place at last for a tiny little girl with a wounded heart. Thats Manee. Thats what L.I.F.E. is all about. * Not her real name For More information on our Project Life Foundation projects in Thailand please visit https://australianmercy.org/portfolio/project-life/

23.01.2022 Gday Farmer Were thrilled that two containers have now been placed on two separate properties in Nymboida, northern NSW. Two families now have a new shipping container that has been decked out with a sliding glass door and window, internal insulated panelling, LED lighting etc. Some recipients have opted for an external hot water system and shower and solar panelling. It all goes to make it more comfortable while they wait for their new home to be built. [ 68 more words ] https://australianmercy.org/new-homes/

21.01.2022 URGENT NEED: Australian Mercy is seeking to raise funds with which to supply soap and other items in order to slow down the spread of COVID 19 in Mae-la Information https://australianmercy.org/portfolio/mae-la-camp-refugees/... Current Situation camp.https://australianmercy.org/coronavirus-in-mae-la-camp/ Many people are shocked when they hear that in Myanmar a war raged for more than 30 years that displaced more than 2 million people. Some of these people live in refugee camps in Thailand close to the Thai / Burmese border. The largest of these camps is Mae-la which is situated about 55km north of the Thai border city of Mae Sot. Australian Mercy has been working in Mae-la camp since 1994. Over the years we have assisted the refugees in many ways and have tried to empower them to better care for themselves. Over the years we have provided funds for the erection of buildings to help house displaced people especially children, we have provided funding for the camps preschool programs, have provided healthcare training, clean water, helped to establish gardens, improve nutrition, fight disease and the list goes on; Every Bar Counts xx Thankyou for your help and support in getting the word out and sharing this urgent need.

18.01.2022 Could you help us get this news out? Just $10 to Feed a Family in need! Vanitashray India COVID 19 has had a huge effect in India. The National shutdown has caused a huge migration of the very poor as they make their way home or try to find somewhere where they can work. (Many of these workers receive less than $1 per day and virtually live hand to mouth. Vanitashray is giving care packs to families in communities who are finding it hard to survive. A gift of about $10 will place a pack of food with one family and give them enough to eat for two weeks. They are also giving out free hot meals to people on the street whilst observing safe social distancing procedures. 02.01.2022 Australian Mercy - Statement on COVID 19 The COVID 19 pandemic has wreaked havoc in many nations including Australia. Millions have been infected and thousands continue to Social distancing is reducing the impact that the virus is having on our health system. We await the development of a vaccine! Australian Mercys staff within Australia and overseas are putting strategies in place to stop the spread of COVID 19. Projects sites have been closed and staff are staying at home.... Where possible, staff are working from home. We are telling the communities we work in, to self-isolate, wash hands and to take precautions against the disease. .... 02.01.2022 CORONA VIRUS IS AFFECTING THE POOR. Coronavirus is wreaking havoc in the world and we are all effected by it on a spectrum that ranges from inconvenience to dea...th. But think about the poor in this world at this time who as the world shuts down they fall off the bottom rung of the ladder into the abyss. (Look at the internal mass migration in India as hundreds of thousands of poor seek food, shelter and employment.) Think about the refugee camps where people are forced to live in close proximity to one another .. if coronavirus gets on there tens of thousands will die. (There are few ventilators in refugee camps!) Think of countries like Burma, Timore Leste, India and some of the African nations whose health care systems even on a good day cannot hope to meet the needs of those in remote communities let alone the cities whose hospitals will stand no chance against a pandemic like coronavirus. If Western hospitals are struggling how will these survive? In the midst of your self isolating dont forget these dear ones and the charities who are still trying to work along side these communities when the borders are shut, resources are low and staff cannot travel. Today the Victorian government announced fines of up to $1652 for people who break public social distancing regulations. The charity I work for, Australian Mercy is receiving many pleas for help from such situations and we do not have the resources we need to respond. Have you any idea how many lives we could save with $1652? That would buy thousands of cakes of soap so people in refugee camps could wash their hands. It could feed 100 families who were not able to work for a week. In Australia, charities are dipping into their reserves to help keep up services until the corona virus emergency is over. Australian Mercy has few such reserves we can tap ... we are praying for a miracle. As you self isolate please pray and give if you can to help smaller charities like ours to continue their work during the coronavirus emergency. Some people have asked how to give without going through Facebook. Here are the instructions: Thank you so much for your willingness to donate to Australian Mercy ... you can do a bank transfer if that would suit you better. Funds can be transferred to this account ARMS Fund Raising and Appeals Account Swift Code (international Identifier) WPACAU2S BSB (branch identifier) 033 039 Account No. 000246746 Once you have transferred the funds email [email protected], inform them of the date of the online donation, the amount and where your are directing it.
02.01.2022 Home of the Open Heart began in December 2000, when Paul and Penny Wilcox took in their first young baby born to an HIV+ drug-addicted mother. Just two weeks later, a second baby arrived when the welfare department was called in to rescue a tiny (1.6kg) 6-week old baby girl whose mother had died of AIDS. Since its conception, the team at Home of the Open Heart have assisted hundreds of families in a variety of ways. The focus during the early years has been caring for babies ...and young children in our childrens homes; however, this has been slowly expanding to include community development and income generation projects, community visits, and caring for destitute HIV+ single mothers and their families. Most recently, a hospice has been built to provide the respite and palliative care for adults and children in the end stages of AIDS; and a teen pregnancy centre is also being planned as staff become available.
