These young guys are from Coen its an inland town situated on the Coen River on the Peninsular development road. A dedicated Mob with a strong presence of community from the very young to the elders of Community taking part in their performance. 02.01.2022 The Junior Award at Laura Indigenous Dance Festival went to Seisia a community on the Northern Peninsular Region of Cape York . The little fella being only 4 stole the crowd he was deadly , the beautiful smiles on the girls their costumes and ceremonial dance they performed were spectacular along with the young guy who performed ceremony and spat and flicked around some powder stuff and drank from a coconut. The community is a settlement of Saibai Island people and the name S...eisia is made up from the first letter of the brothers that founded the community . They live at the old red wharf region with shipping and ferry services as well as being a popular local fishing spot. They were one of two Island groups to perform at the Festival. The weaving and words on the girls bag Ive only just noticed since sifting and editing photos and it reads Joy , Peace , Love and that sums up their performance as well .
