19.01.2022 Is your child restraint correctly installed? Unsure? Red Cross is here to put your mind at ease! Here at our Coober Pedy office, Our staff are trained in how to correctly fit and check all different types of restraints to suit your child. ... If you would like to have your restraints checked, give us a call on 86725380 and we can arrange a time for you. We offer a price of $5 for a standard check and to ensure you child seat is correctly fitted. Red Cross would also like to remind our community the things to remember when buying second hand car seats: - The car seat MUST have a Australian standard mark sticker (located on the back or side of restraint) -All car seats have a date of manufacture, either as a sticker or a dials molded. If the date is more than 10 years old, the seat should be destroyed. -A car seat should not be used if it have been in a previous accident. It’s extremely important to understand that it is essentially impossible to know if a car seat has been in an accident. You are taking the seller’s word at face value and therefore should only buy second hand from a trusted and well known seller. -Obvious signs of wear, ie. cracks, faded or frayed straps, or a buckle that doesn’t work - should be an indicator to NOT purchase the restraint. We hope to see plenty of friendly faces at our Red Cross office soon!
