17.01.2022 With heavy hearts, we advise members of Kent Johnson’s passing. Kent was loved, respected and admired by so many. He was a wonderful horseman who rode and presented to the highest level. His horses always looked amazing and showed the level of dedication Kent put into their handling and training. Kent had a keen interest in genetics and breeding which is something he excelled at through Taunton Vale Stud. Kent and his family bred both stunning Australian Stock Horses and much... sought-after thoroughbreds with great success. When it came to work, Kent was never missing. He has been an executive member on many committees, and was actively committed to supporting and helping any club or event he was involved with. Before the weekend had even begun Kent would be there setting up and preparing the grounds. During the weekend you would find Kent on a horse, judging classes and/or assisting the ground crew. Once the weekend was drawing to a close, when everyone is tired and just wants to get home, you would find Kent with a smile on his face pottering around making sure everything was in order. In additional to all of this, Kent and his family, through Taunton Vale Stud, consistently supported events through much appreciated sponsorship. Thank you Kent for everything you have done for the Australian Stock Horse Society in Western Australia. You were an exemplary example of a member and so many people looked up to you. Your service, ideas, lessons and quality horses will stay with us beyond your passing. You leave a very large hole in our organisation. Deepest condolences to Kent’s wife Nina, children Drew & Anya and adult children Pia, Zoe, Oliver & Elliott. Our thoughts are with each of you during this very difficult time. Thank you for sharing your husband and dad with us. We feel privileged to have known him.

13.01.2022 POSTPONEMENT The committee have made the tough decision to postpone the year’s State Championship Show. This decision was not made lightly, however due to... the rapid spreading of COVID-19 it was deemed to be in the best interests of all competitors and spectators. I know that so many of you have put months of work and preparation into your horses, and you will no doubt be left feeling a little deflated. It may well have proceeded without incident, however if our show contributed to even one person with a weakened immune system being adversely effected then that is too many. Discussions are being had for a possible rescheduling date and this will be released as soon as possible. Logistically there is a lot to be sorted out and committee are doing the best they can. Please stay posted for further updates as they are released.
