25.01.2022 Beware of dammed lies and statistics - especially the ones that dont even matter! Here is a great example of getting hyped up about stats and metrics that have minimal, if any, relationship to increasing sales. The hype in the news recently was that twitter could meltdown this year with major sporting events such as the SuperBowl, Winter Olympics and 2014 World Cup... The media wowed us with facts like "268,000 tweets per minute during the 2013 Super Bowl half-time show" l...ast year. Businesses can get excited by this sort of talk and overly invest in Twitter campaigns in response. This is all very interesting but these trends should NOT tempt all businesses to jump on twitter and invest all of our time and money there because it seems to a gold mine of brand awareness ripe for the taking. Even if a business gets the best possible result from a Twitter campaign, the question still remains: "Did this increase my sales?"! It may not even matter how many people re-tweeted my brand! Here is an example... In 2009 - 2010, "Best Buy" got accolades for their amazing Twitter campaign and yet the company was losing millions and stores were closing down. They invested heavily in a customer service based Twelpforce. But this did not appear to translate into sales. By 2012, Best Buys CEO and CMO found themselves looking for new jobs... The take home message is simply to learn more before jumping in. Learn what works for your particular business and why. Be deliberate about your social media strategy rather than responsive...



25.01.2022 Let the bias of the moment ever be in our favour ;-) The top posts on Facebook last year were without question video. Does FB favour video because videos successful on FB or because FB wants it to be successful? Either way, posts in 2015 need to include at least an image and at best a Facebook native video wherever possible. Create short and sharp moments on simple phone technology and upload it directly to FB!

This is why its so important that channels tie in with one another. SEO is a great place to start this off as it is usually the first point of convergence between brand perception and audience.
