21.01.2022 Here are some impressions of last night’s event at the Newtown Neighbourhood Centre, Sydney. We were enriched and inspired, made new connections with others as ...well as within ourselves, and fully engaged head and heart. Thank you, everyone, for sharing your passion, compassion, and wisdom. See more
19.01.2022 Yesterday we celebrated the final night of a week of Fulbright events at the stunning home of the amazing Iona Novak. With beautiful company, food and views, it was an evening that was simply perfect.
19.01.2022 AFAA's Victorian chapter held a fantastic social gathering last night. Fifteen people attended, including four current US scholars. Our vibrant discussion continued over dinner well into late evening, and included: improving health service outcomes to older people with autism; healthy ageing; art curation; learning from patient experiences in hospitals; cross-cultural adult education, healthy cities and liveability indicators, health service improvements for older people with... autism and people experiencing mental illness; diseases that cross between humans and other animals; collecting blood samples from llamas; climate change impacts on refugee policy; and the mating habits of cuttlefish. In other words - just another average Fulbright get-together! Because there was so much that we wanted to learn from each other, we are going to organise a peer educational seminar for October. Stay tuned.

09.01.2022 The first QLD AFFA face-to-face get-together since lockdown. And even though there were some hick-ups with the mailout and the booking system, we got a lovely group of people together for delicious taco Tuesday. It was so good to reconnect. So much so that we promptly forgot to take photos. Here are the only two. - You may like to know that we decided to have another dinner in mid-November. Stay tuned.
09.01.2022 We were delighted to welcome local 2019 scholars at our recent event at Melbourne University. Sixteen folks joined us, including newly-arrived US Scholar to the University of Melbourne, Allison Cheung. Welcome!

03.01.2022 Melbourne AFAA members and friends were delighted to welcome current Fulbright Distinguished Chair Prof Rob DeSalle, to Melbourne last Friday. Our evening began on the rooftop bar at Curtin House and proceeded downstairs to Cookie (lit in fluro red) for dinner. Great to meet you, Rob!
03.01.2022 Between a fabulous event for community workers and psychologists at QUT and preparing for tonight’s Frayed Lives, Threads of Hope here in Brisbane, salon curator and Fulbright alumni Mara Adelman and AFAA President Iain Butterworth gathered some local impressions.
02.01.2022 Fulbright alum Farrukh Mateen gave a fabulous presentation for AFAA Queensland last week with practical information about the production and application of nanotechnology. Farrukh provided hands-on demonstrations and explanations that engaged everyone, artfully making the complex simple while sharing his own person journey. We all came away with great appreciation for a complex field of study and a brilliant scientific mind!
