The Queensland premier Annastacia Palaszczuk, last night announced that there are no internal restrictions within Queensland for everybody to travel and enjoy our beautiful state. Weve been busy behind the scenes getting Wanggulay ready for you, and I want to thank our new manager Kimmie for going that extra mile. She, with the help of her family, has done an excellent job in preparing our place. We will be rea...dy from June 10 to welcome visitors. 02.01.2022 Why are outdoor Asian daybeds so inviting? Time melts away, life eases, senses are enhanced and transitioning to a restful sleep seems delightfully decadent. We love it! Asian furniture can be so welcoming and often these timeless pieces date back to the last century. So It seemed the perfect choice to furnish Wanggulay with an Asian fusion feel. With good fortune, I had visited Asia regularly for twenty years, exploring the markets, and constantly delighted by the archit...ectural and cultural diversity seemingly matched by the equally amazingly rich and varied cuisine. The furnishings and fabrics, with their handcrafted design, vibrant colours, and alluring fabrics have long captured the imagination of people from all over the world. One such person was Jim Thompson, and he took his love to the next level. Have you ever visited his amazing House in Bangkok? I have, several times, and felt so inspired by his taste and style. Sadly, he mysteriously disappeared from Malaysias Cameron Highlands while going for a walk on Sunday, 26 March 1967. His house is now a museum. It has an extensive antique collection of carved, painted and inlaid Thai-Chinese furniture including altar tables, beds and cabinets. Also, there is the contemporary furniture Jim Thompson used in his home, many of which are my favourite pieces. I share here our lovely daybed on the balcony of Wanggulay and the incredible interior of Jim Thompsons house. What do you think of the furniture?
