22.01.2022 We were excited to finally be able to launch the SA Refugee Week Youth Poster Awards Exhibition for 2020 at the Kerry Packer Civic Gallery at The Bob Hawke Prime Ministerial Centre. Originally intended to be displayed during SA Refugee week in June, but put on hold due to restrictions on social gatherings, the exhibition features a curated selection of 88 works shortlisted from over 400 submissions from primary, high school and tertiary institutions across South Australia. Th...e artworks celebrate the courage, resilience, strength and contributions of people of refugee background and will be on display in the gallery until Wednesday 25th November as well as being available to view online by following the link. The exhibition will be toured throughout the next 12 months. Our thanks go to the Honourable Jing Lee MLC, Assistant Minister to the Premier, for launching the special occasion as well as to our partners The Bob Hawke Prime Ministerial Centre at UniSA and the SA Refugee Week Committee. https://amrc.org.au/sa-refugee-week-youth-poster-awards-exh

A big thank you to Andrew Cummings for facilitating the conversation with young people!

16.01.2022 As the 75th year anniversary of the UNHCR, the AMRC was delighted to host a conversation between Ms Louise Aubin, UNHCR Regional Representative and ethnic leaders from new and established communities to discuss UNHCR’s work and settlement in Australia. 11.01.2022 Stories of Achievement from New Australians of Refugee Background Azizullah Paigham was resettled in South Australia in 2019 and was hired as a casual journalist by Ghan TV. In Afghanistan, Azizullah worked as a journalist with the Nangarhar Journalists Council and as a FM radio manager. He also worked as a cultural advisor to the foreign forces and ran an ESL education centre for over 300 students. He is currently working with Amnesty International Human Rights and is studyi...ng a Human Resources degree at the University of South Australia. He is also studying a National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI) course at TAFE SA. I hope to work in human resources to help people, but I dream of becoming a parliamentarian to make a difference. 10.01.2022 Thank you to the Tong De Association of South Australia, one of many organisations who have kindly donated masks and hand sanitisers during this challenging time. These donations have assisted the AMRC to safe guard the wellbeing of its vulnerable clients and staff. 01.01.2022 A very big thank you to Helen and all AMRC staff and volunteers as well as residents, who over the past week have quietly and methodically and without any fanfare, reverted to emergency management procedures. In 4 days, you have collectively contacted face to face home visits and by phone, over 500 of our clients most at risk in Adelaide and regional areas - women and children, young people, those with disabilities, elderly and many who are in quarantine!! We can be confide...nt that those in our refugee and migrant communities have factual and timely information, have food and other necessities, and someone to talk to through this period of necessary inconvenience! Our refugee and migrant communities and the AMRC acknowledge and are humbled by your work. You have kept our clients, their families and communities safe and connected! Congratulations for a job well done.
