21.01.2022 LIONS ADOPT-A-ROAD This morning Kings Langley Lions members had their regular Adopt-a-Road clean up with the easing of the CIVID19 lockdown. Our Lions collected... rubbish on the footpaths of two main roads in the suburb as part of Blacktown Council's community project. Three of our hardworking Lions are still out on the clean up and missed the photo.

12.01.2022 Funds raised by the Lions Australia Spinal Cord Fellowship go to StepAhead Australia, an organisation regarded by the Federal Department of Health and Aging as ...the peak Australian entity searching for a cure for chronic spinal cord injury. Around 15,000 Australians live with a spinal cord injury. The cost to patients and their families can be immense and the cost to the Australian health care system is approximately $2 billion per annum. The spinal cord is an extension of the brain and runs from the neck to the lower back. The spinal cord consists of millions of nerve fibres that transmit information to and from the limbs, trunk and organs of the body. A spinal cord injury happens if pressure is applied to the spinal cord, and/or the blood and oxygen supply to the cord is disrupted. #201Q1 #Q1Lions #AnotherLionsProject #201Q1MonthlyProjects #LSCF #LionsSpinalCordFellowship See more

12.01.2022 Born in Tuscumbia, Alabama, USA, in 1880, Helen Keller developed a fever at 18 months of age that left her blind and deaf. Helen Keller learned sign language a...nd braille. A few years later, she learned to speak. As an adult she became a tireless advocate for people with disabilities. And in 1925, she attended the Lions Clubs International Convention and challenged Lions to become "knights of the blind in the crusade against darkness." The Lions accepted her challenge and our work ever since has included sight programs aimed at preventable blindness.

05.01.2022 #fosterfriday It's time for an update on foster pup "Paddy", he is one of the Cocker Spaniel pups that we have in foster care. Recently Paddy spent a bit of tim...e with us at the National Training Centre at Verdun in the Adelaide Hills. This gave Mary, the Puppy Coordinator, a chance to work with Paddy and take him on some bigger walks. Paddy proved to be very confident in busy areas and was a good boy when passing other dogs, even though they look like fun to play with! Paddy is sponsored by the Lions Club of Kalgoorlie Inc and was sourced from Macdolly & Asuare - Cocker Spaniels / Golden Retrievers / Hungarian Vizsla If you would like to know more information on what it means to be a foster carer please check out our website https://lionshearingdogs.com.au/foster-carers/ or send an email to [email protected].
