24.01.2022 URGENT UPDATE FOR SA PODIATRISTS The 6 day SA lockdown effective from midnight tonight is aiming to greatly reduce movement and face-to-face interactions to halt the spread of the latest covid-19 outbreak. The SA Government is asking the SA community to stay home except to get necessary groceries, to seek urgent medical care or in the event of an emergency. As such, for the next 6 days all private practice podiatrists will need to re-schedule appointments that cannot be done... via telehealth. Exemptions from current 6 day order: Allied health professionals working as essential workers in hospitals providing critical clinical care or as directed by the hospital Allied health professionals working in private practice providing care through telehealth and other virtual care options Allied health professionals providing mental health services, being provided in hospital or telehealth Students, medical/nursing/midwifery/allied health on placement providing essential care in hospitals or through telehealth Not exempt from 6 day order Any other allied health professionals other than above Any students other than the above We will be carefully monitoring this situation and will provide any further information as it comes to hand. We understand that this is a sudden announcement that creates a lot of stress for everyone, we hope that this swift action will see things return to normal very soon. 22.01.2022 NSW Health advice for Home Care Service Providers has been updated (8 January 2021) Key points - Until further notice all staff across NSW must wear a surgical mask during home visits. - Exclude staff who: * have been in any of the latest COVID-19 locations in NSW at the times and dates listed, excluding the monitor for symptoms list... * have a fever (37. 5C or higher) or symptoms of COVID-19 are a close contact of a person with confirmed COVID-19 and are within their self-isolation period * live in a household with a person who is a close contact or is otherwise currently self-isolating * are non-essential and have been to the Queensland local government areas of City of Brisbane, Logan City, City of Ipswich, Moreton Bay Region, Redland City, Lockyer Valley Region, Scenic Rim Region or Somerset Region since 2 January 2021. - Staff who have been to the Queensland local government areas of City of Brisbane, Logan City, City of Ipswich, Moreton Bay Region, Redland City, Lockyer Valley Region, Scenic Rim Region or Somerset Region since 2 January 2021 and are essential for maintaining the service should have a risk assessment performed in consultation with the local public health unit. - Regularly visit the NSW COVID-19 website on areas of active community transmission: https://www.health.nsw.gov.au//case-locations-and-alerts.a - All home care service providers must maintain vigilance to prevent the introduction of COVID-19. 17.01.2022 This morning the Victorian Premier announced that Victoria's lockdown will end at 11:59pm today with some restrictions remaining in place. For podiatrists this means: You can reopen and rebook patients. Masks will be required for visitors, patients, support staff and practitioners indoors and outdoors, wherever social distancing cannot be achieved. Return to the 'COVID Safe Summer' restriction and obligations.... Effectively this means a return how you were operating prior to the lockdown, plus masks. We still recommend precautionary screening, particularly of those associated with clusters, for the next 9 days. Some restriction will stay for another 9 days to allow 14-day clearance. We are clarifying what this means for Allied health and will have a more specific update for you as soon as possible this afternoon. What we know so far is the following: From midnight tonight, the following facilities and activities will be closed:... all schools (except for children of essential workers) takeaway food outlets universities pubs, cafes, coffee shops, food courts all elective surgery open inspections all outdoor sport factories (except those required for food or medical production) aged care facilities will be locked down (no visitors except for organised end-of-life visits) holiday homes The following restrictions will also be in place: people must stay at home (except essential service workers) no exercise outside the home 1 person per household per day may leave to purchase groceries no regional travel masks must be worn outdoors no weddings or funerals to take place no construction to take place Fly-in, fly-out workers on standby The following essential services can remain open: water, power and telecommunications services supermarkets (with limited access) medical facilities (including mental health services) public transport airports and essential freight services petrol stations post offices and banking institutions mining and smelting operations, and factories that must be maintained childcare facilities for families of essential workers some government services veterinary services essential agricultural services Source: SA Health Website, check here for further updates: https://www.covid-19.sa.gov.au/response

02.01.2022 South Australia’s COVID restrictions are easing and the Stay at Home Direction is being removed from midnight Saturday. Allied health providers can resume face-to-face services from Sunday 22 November. Providers must have a COVID Safe plan in place, maintain social distancing and appropriate infection control practices, and continue to use telehealth where possible. A reminder that under the current Stay At Home Direction, people may leave home to receive essential healthcare services. 02.01.2022 UPDATE FOR SA PODIATRISTS WORKING IN AGED CARE FACILITIES The Chief Allied Health Officer has clarified that allied health professionals can go to a RACF during the 6 day lockdown, noting the following: A person who provides nursing, medical, allied health or personal care services to a resident at a RACF must wear appropriate personal protective equipment, in accordance with the Australian Guidelines, at any time that they are providing those services and cannot maintain a d...istance of more than 1.5 metres from the resident. You will also need to ensure that you let each facility know if you are visiting other facilities.

01.01.2022 On 8 January 2021 the Queensland Government issued Aged Care Direction (No. 18) which recommends limiting mobility of the residential aged care workforce across Queensland. The Australian Government is making funding support under the Support for Aged Care Workers in COVID-19 (SACWIC) grant available for residential aged care providers located in the some Local Government Areas in Greater Brisbane.
