13.01.2022 Project seeking funding - UNICEF Australia When a woman dies in childbirth, she leaves a child who is 10x more likely to die within two years of their mothers death. When a woman is supported to give birth safely and has access to services that ensure she and her newborn remain healthy, she can thrive and so can her baby. The number of women who die due to complications during pregnancy and birth in Zimbabwe are already far too high. The ongoing lockdown has made it neces...sary to scale back critical health services leaving vulnerable pregnant women unable to access antenatal and postpartum care, as well as skilled medical care during childbirth. These disruptions risk causing a devastating increase in maternal and child deaths. UNICEF is urgently working to safeguard the provision of essential health care services for pregnant women, nursing mothers and their babies by increasing the capacity of maternal health care workers in over 20 hospitals, as wells as training roaming Village Health Workers who are stationed in the hardest-to-reach communities. 10.01.2022 Project seeking funding: With one in 17 women dying in childbirth, Sierra Leone has the worst maternal mortality rate in the world. With your financial support, an experienced team of epidemiologists and public health physicians at The Australian National University (ANU) are hoping to change this. Led by Dr Kamalini Lokuge, the ANU team will work with local communities, Doctors Without Borders/ Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) and the Sierra Leone Ministry of Health and Sanit...ation to deliver effective, sustainable and scalable solutions that leverage and transform existing programs. Using their unique model which has already been proven successful in the Ebola outbreak in West Africa and in helping tackle family and sexual violence in Papua New Guinea, the ANU team hope to halve Sierra Leones maternal mortality rate in just 3 years. Your financial support can help to support this vital project that will greatly improve maternal health for some of the worlds most disadvantaged women. Learn more: bit.ly/3ds6iSW

02.01.2022 Project seeking funding - UNICEF Australia Papua New Guinea is considered one of the most dangerous places in the world to be a woman. Gender-based violence, particularly in the home, is a culturally embedded phenomenon that puts women and children at risk, especially during times of intensified stress. From its experience in multiple humanitarian and public health crises, UNICEF knows that social isolation and other restrictions can lead to spikes in domestic violence, sexu...al abuse and early pregnancy. UNICEF is supporting social workers who are responding to cases of child abuse or children in need of care, ensuring that some children have a safe place to live. Additionally, emotional and psychological support is being offered to parents and caregivers to help them manage the stress of lockdown, as well as information on supporting their children through this difficult time. 02.01.2022 We love @WomensAgenda & @PlanAustralia Girls & COVID19 hub! We all know about #COVID19's gendered impacts. How can we help women & girls overcome the odds? By embedding a strategic focus on women & girls in all that we do, from advocacy to philanthropy. https://womensagenda.com.au/girls-covid/

01.01.2022 We love this initiative to mobilise Australia's giving. If every Australian donated just one #DonationDollar a month for a year through a #genderlens, women & girls would get their fair share of the extra $300 million in charitable donations, enabling them to build stronger families, communities & economies. Ask how your giving benefits women?
