16.01.2022 Happy International Day of the Seafarer! "Throughout 2019 there is a strong emphasis in the maritime world on the importance and value of women within the professional ranks. Much of this is being driven by the World Maritime Day theme (Empowering Women in the Maritime Community). It is already clear that this theme has a very strong and far-reaching resonance.... It provides an opportunity to highlight opportunities for women (as well as the contributions they are already making) in a wide range of maritime careers and professions, but the focus will be very firmly on one aspect of that community seafarers" We'd love to hear your stories about your favourite seafaring women and their achievements! #internationaldayoftheseafarer #Iamonboard #womeninsailing

15.01.2022 Royal Melbourne Yacht Squadron has been closely following the developments regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, an issue which is already having an impact on our sailing community. The priority at this time should be the health and safety of our communities. We have have therefore decided to postpone the 2020 event. We are disappointed to do this but feel that is is the correct move to be taken at this time. For anyone that as already registered we will be contacting you and pr...oviding a refund. We very much look forward to having you back in 2021 and celebrating this great and unique event once again. Regards Colin Burgess Regatta Coordinator See more

01.01.2022 JOIN OUR ON LINE CHAT AND VIRTUAL RACE SUNDAY 7TH JUNE FROM 4PM This year's planned 30th anniversary of the Australian Womens Keelboat Regatta (AWKR) may have been postponed until 2021 but that won't stop us catching up for a Zoom chat at 4pm AEST on Sunday June 7th to celebrate the 29.5th AWKR. Kristen (AWKR Chair) and special guest will be hosting the event. Details of the meeting will be made available on both the AWKR web site and the AWKR Facebook page closer to the eve...nt. The event will also be live-streamed on Facebook for those who just want to watch. We can't race physically so Sail Online (SOL) is kindly hosting what would normally be our longer race during the AWKR. Race starts at 5pm AEST and you won't need to be a computer gamer for this one and it won't cost you a cent because SOL is free. We will be sailing a brand new First27 which would be a very nice boat for the AWKR in real life. SOL uses real winds that change throughout the race as the winds change on the bay. If you get it right you could get around the course with just a couple of tacks and one or two gybes. We need more female navigators so set up your free account at Sail Online.
