24.01.2022 A continuation of our experiences on the Eyre. #eyrepeninsula #southaustraliantourism

23.01.2022 TOILET TALK Gee ... I must be bored. I've seen a few posts on toilets lately and for the first time wondered what size our tank was. After locating the model on the bottom of the tank, searching google, I discovered 'stuff' :-) . Tank holding capacity is 20l, there are models for left and right hand of the van, a replacement (different model) is about $220 and as we use those little Thetford sachet thingies ... dose 1 sachet per 20L of waste-holding tank capacity. Add 2-3L of water to ensure optimal performance of the toilet. You're welcome :-) Time to hit the road again.

23.01.2022 Must say that since caravanning has come into our world, I have enjoyed reading more. Particularly Aussie writers (and books with a caravan on the cover). This one a recent and good read. The Night Whistler by Greg Woodland. Couldn’t put it down.

22.01.2022 Camping Rock & Roll ... the beat continued today as we ventured to Minnipa SA, up a dirt (but in good condition) road or 3. Onto Pildappa Rock, then over to Tcharkuldu Rock. Free (donation) camping / caravanning at both.

22.01.2022 THE MORAL OF THE STORY IS ... Recently we visited the Murray River National Park Katarapko Creek in SA. We arrived on a Monday morning, having pre-booked a large spot. As we drove in, we noticed a few ash pits, areas where folks hadn’t used the fire pit rings (two were provided, one was shifted next to the creek). Some areas of Australia were already under restriction, but the CFS in SA had announced that the fire danger season in the Riverland was starting on November 1...5th. Monday was low 30’s, Tuesday was about 36 degrees, so naturally no campfire was required. Wednesday was a lot colder and a strong wind had picked up. My wife, rolled one of the fire pits up to where we figured it should be (over one of the ash areas). Here is where things heated up literally. We had been there three days, and after a morning drive, we came back to discover smoke, and then saw small embers inside and just outside the ring. After a while some flames appeared. As I said it was fairly windy, if Pat hadn’t placed the ring on there, who knows where those ashes and embers could have ended up, and what damage could they have caused. Sure, maybe containing the ash in a ring might have caused the combustion, but it also stopped ash and embers drifting off to who knows where. The moral of the story is please, please obey all fire restrictions, make sure all fires are contained and they are completely extinguished before you leave. Pour water on them as we did when we left, so easy with a huge creek next to us, and it should be easy for everyone else, no matter where you are. SA Country Fire Service See more

21.01.2022 Posted this a few years back ... still applies today. Shout out to all caravanners & campers. Thursday 10th September is a special day, although for caravanners & campers every day seems special. Here's our chance to help out a mate, a person camped next door or sitting around a community campfire. You don't need to be an expert - just a great mate and a good listener. So, if you notice someone who might be struggling - start a conversation and ask RUOK? www.ruok.org.au

21.01.2022 It bucketed down most of the night, and after 3 days of heavy rain and strong winds, it’s time to hook up. I have flippers and snorkel on board, now I just have to convince Pat to wear them . Oh ... not a leak to be seen, nice rebuild Craig Morgan.

21.01.2022 Love playing with night shots, always harder when the moon is out. This was last week, about 10pm at Lipson Cove SA.

18.01.2022 Finally got the canoe in ... ahhhhh the serenity!

18.01.2022 Love a bonny (at a mate’s place).

17.01.2022 WAIT ... What did you say? It was about 4.20pm, I was standing at the back of the Lexcruiser (a Lexus LX470 that is really a Landcruiser 100 series, with extra ‘bits’). The drinks fridge lives in there. After an awesome couple of days checking out the surrounding area and 5pm fast approaching, I was getting some mixers for our evening libation (fancy for the ceremonial caravanners happy hour). A shadow passed, I turned to see what it was, more like a who it was. A lovely lady... was out for a walk and on the casual look out for her dog, nothing frantic, he’ll be here somewhere and thanks for visiting Wudinna. WAIT What did you say? For the next 10 minutes we chatted, I was absolutely blown away at thanks for visiting Wudinna, my new best friend so interested in where we were from, why we were here, where we were going next. No, she wasn’t a spy, a secret government or local council agent, she was sincerely interested, she loved that we were here, visiting her town. Here is the ‘my bad’ bit I didn’t get her name, maybe I was mentally prepared for happy hour and this diversion was so powerful, thanks for visiting Wudinna, I just forgot. Well to the mystery lady thanks for having us in your town, we loved it and we’ll be back. By the way, I reckon the Eyre Peninsula has given us about a 95% success rate with the caravanners wave, even without the van on the back on some occasions. Keep smiling folks, life is good, particularly with people like the mystery lady. See more

17.01.2022 Sometimes a good fire just reminds me of a ballet, dancing flames on our very own stage. Or maybe that’s just the red wine . Photos freeze that moment in time never to be repeated ... enjoy.

15.01.2022 Love our 2001 Lexus LX470 (the Lexcruiser). Checking out Ramco Sth Australia and nearby camping area (in the distance). About 7 km out of Waikerie. #lexus #southaustralia

14.01.2022 Swirl, wine, campfire (last for the year), enjoy, friends, chill. #wine #friends #campfire #livingthedream

14.01.2022 My guide to fishing ... 1: walk onto jetty 2: talk to fishermen ask how they are going 3: apparently not a cold to be caught 4: walk off jetty 5: start happy hour early ... you’re welcome.

12.01.2022 Knowing our luck, the pot of gold will be the other end

11.01.2022 Always good to refresh your memory :-)

11.01.2022 Heading home after a breath of fresh Eyre (Peninsula) we stopped off at a nifty little park. Everything was terrific, a smile on checking in, a nice spot to set up, fairly good looking camp kitchen, a 5 minute walk to a pleasant pub. But ... on entering the facilities, all very neat and clean I must add, I spied this object. Help me weigh this up, could it have been left by one of the permanents? Is it an object of torture, used to display a few extra kg gained at the bakeri...es, pubs, cafes, happy hours etc ? Or is it a helpful hint on exercising, or getting back into ‘shape’? Well I hopped on board, one leg at a time, hoping it would display less. And .......... I’m happy to say, all was ventured, but nothing gained. Perhaps an item of torture, but it wouldn’t stop me going back to the Stirling North Caravan Park SA, a great caravan park. See more

10.01.2022 Just a reminder, we have an online t-shirt shop with a caravan & camping related theme ... just love making memories :-) https://www.redbubble.com/people/AustOnTrack/shop

09.01.2022 The Lexcruiser hit the dirt today as we ducked the rain and wind just out of Wudinna SA. Checked out Wattle Grove Rock Campground, Pygery Rocks & Mt Wudinna. Australia has some hidden gems, in this case hidden rocks.

08.01.2022 Great food, great wine, great company ... awesome! Oh and a good torch to light up the van .

06.01.2022 A blast from the past ... a little story I wrote a while back about using your noodle.

06.01.2022 Support local they say, so today over to Coffin Bay for some oysters, a few natural, fresh as can be, the rest schucked on the Weber tonight ‘kilpatrick’. A nice Boston Bay shiraz in the cart as well. The Eyre doesn’t get much better than that.

06.01.2022 Another long exposure in Iron Knob SA, ambient light and a torch sweep across the van and lexcruiser.

03.01.2022 For those states participating. This Sunday Oct 4th 2am forward!

03.01.2022 Sometimes you just forget to wave. This should do the job, also adjustable pending my mood.

02.01.2022 Must say that travelling SA’s Eyre Peninsula (in our own state/backyard) is highly enjoyable and achievable ... it isn’t a pipe dream. Communities are so friendly and welcoming. Follow the rules and keep Australia On Track !

01.01.2022 Home for a night or two. Simply spectacular!
