23.01.2022 Josh Costelloe, Assets Planning & Engineering Queensland Rail Since joining Queensland Rail in 2016, it has been very clear that our organisation has a culture that supports employee participation in activities and events that make a positive difference in our community. My Telecommunications Engineering team gets involved in many of these initiatives and encouraged me to participate. I am not directly related to anyone or know anyone who is or has experienced domestic and... family violence, but through our CEO Nick Easys communication on this critical issue, I understand the seriousness of DFV and the societal issue that needs to be addressed. Although our Telecoms team is small, Im proud of the part we play in raising awareness of DFV by participating in the D2D event. #dfv #endDV #onemillionconversations #challengezero #workplaces4change #aceoc

For any individual registration received between 15 September and 1 October 2020, your participant pack will be posted on the following Monday or Thursday, whichever comes first. , - @.. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee your participant pack will arrive prior to the commencement of our event, for any registrations received within the extended registration period. Thank you for your support and understanding. - () . , , . , , , . . . Why 110km? Well, because that number symbolises the on average number of lives lost each year to Domestic Family Violence in Australia. Help us put an end to DFV across Australia, and show people affected that they are not alone. Your contribution will make all the difference. 3 : 1. Register as an individual or as a team -https://loom.ly/bgUNEkM 2. Ask your friends, family and colleagues to sponsor you 3. From 1st October, get walking, jogging, cycling or running! We expect over 2000 people to participate in the event, as individuals or with their friends, families and team-mates. All money raised will be used to continue our work in raising awareness in workplaces about DFV and helping colleagues and employers to support those affected. This includes our partnerships program which directly supports frontline services including womens refuges and mens behavioural change programs. Together, we can bring the issue of DFV out of the darkness and into the daylight.

17.01.2022 Hi D2D champions! A little trivia for you D2D started in what year?
15.01.2022 "Evil thrives in silence. Behaviour unspoken, behaviour ignored, is behaviour endorsed," Australian of the Year and sexual assault survivor Grace Tame. Yesterday tens of thousands of people flooded to the streets to protest against sexism and gendered violence. Although we couldn’t be there in person we were there in spirit, passionate but outraged. We have watched quietly for too long. Lost too many lives. Watched too much struggle. The time for change is now. #EnoughIsEnough #March4Justice https://loom.ly/gfFy7H8 We thank all those who have fought tirelessly before us and we are encouraged and inspired by your actions

06.01.2022 Hear Simone OBriens story about how her workplace made a difference in her journey. TMR has been long time supporters of DFV prevention and is one of our proud sponsors of Darkness to Daylight. Through our workplace training, educating staff on how to recognise, respond and refer people experiencing and using abusive behaviours TMR has made such a positive impact not only on Simones life and that of her children, but others going through the same situation.
06.01.2022 Chantalle Leung, Workforce Planning and Diversity, People & Culture Queensland Rail I am very fortunate and proud to work for an organisation that embraces diversity and ensures the wellbeing and safety of its employees. Queensland Rail s ongoing sponsorship of the Darkness to Daylight (D2D) event, an event that helps raise awareness and funds for the Australian CEO Challenge, demonstrates our commitment to help eliminate domestic and family violence (DFV) from our communi...ty. The event also helps businesses likes ours become more aware of and responsive to DFV. I strongly believe that by simply having a conversation if something doesnt quite seem right, speaking up, or taking active steps to support someone who has disclosed they are experiencing DFV, everyone can make a difference. Having grown up in a culturally and linguistically diverse community, I know that isnt always easy, however, together we can break the cycle of DFV. In place of this years D2D event, to show its support for DFV Prevention month, a group of Queensland Rail employees, including Chantalle, hosted its own challenge by collectively walking or running more than 110km! Chantalle is excited for Queensland Rail employees across the state to participate in the event to raise awareness of domestic and family violence and to encourage those experiencing violence to reach out. #dfv #endDV #onemillionconversations #challengezero #workplaces4change #aceoc Queensland Rail

04.01.2022 Simones journey started in 2012. she suffered a horrific domestic violence attack at the hands of a perpetrator who would not take no for an answer. It started with emotional and psychological abuse, including telling lies, stealing money and insults. And it ended with her being beaten with a baseball bat to within inches of her life. Simone has lost her eyesight on the right side and her sense of smell. Simones skull is currently held together with screws and titanium pl...ates. The ripple effect of this on her children has been unimaginable. Through her determination and the support of family, friends, neighbours, doctors and nurses, Simone got through that night. So here she is today sharing her story, in between all the treatments, operations and therapies that she will have to go through for the rest of her life. Before 2012, I was oblivious to domestic violence and the red flags associated with it. I learned the hard way and now, I want to make sure no women or children will experience what me and my kids did ever again. I want to raise awareness of domestic violence and give strength to victims to get out of violent relationships. I want to help people see the red flags and provide them the information they need to protect themselves and seek help if required. Using my personal story of determination, resilience, courage and strength, I want to champion non-violence against women and children. Together, lets stop domestic violence. @simonemobrien
