24.01.2022 Share to raise awareness Confusion between ovarian cancer and cervical cancer in particular gives rise to misconceptions that HPV vaccines and regular Pap smears protect against ovarian cancer. Unlike cervical cancer, #ovariancancer cannot be prevented through a vaccine or detected through current screening tools.... This is why continued research is vital.

19.01.2022 This week, we join in the nationwide celebrations of National Volunteer Week 2021, by acknowledging some of our most dedicated, long-standing supporters and advocates. The Spicer Family have supported the OCRF for many years by fundraising, volunteering their time and expertise, and participating in campaigns, including the #WhiteShirtCampaign. Headed up by Lindy, the Spicers host an annual White Shirt Day event, bringing their friends together to learn about ovarian ca...ncer over a morning tea. Every year we are blown away by the generosity of the Spicers and their network, who this year alone have raised over $20,000 from their White Shirt Day event. A huge thank you to Lindy and the family for once again going above and beyond to support #ovariancancer research through fundraising and raising awareness in their community. See more

19.01.2022 We encourage all those interested to register for this free webinar, hosted by AUSiMED and Australian Friends of Rambam, on Tuesday 16 February at 7pm. A fantastic opportunity to hear from two experts about emerging ovarian cancer therapies and how this research is benefiting from international collaboration between Rambam Hospital in Israel and the Hudson Institute of Medical Research.

17.01.2022 Thank you again to our wonderful community for supporting vital research during the White Shirt Campaign. Support for women living with ovarian cancer is also an ongoing need. Our friends at Ovarian Cancer Australia continue to care for women living with this disease and you can help by heading to Bonds, Jockey or Bras N Things and buying a pair of Overies undies. 100% of the profits are donated to OCA so they can continue to be there for people impacted by ovarian cancer with their free support services. 17.01.2022 Today is White Shirt Day & World Ovarian Cancer Day. Let’s come together and unite in white to raise funds and awareness for ovarian cancer, the disease with the lowest survival rate of all female cancers. Help us spread the word; share a post in your white shirt and tag OCRF and Witchery, plus #WHITESHIRTCAMPAIGN. You can still help make a difference by purchasing an OCRF white shirt or making a donation. For every white shirt sold, 100% of the gross proceeds are donated t...o support ovarian cancer research and most importantly, the development of an early detection test. Shine a light on ovarian cancer today.

16.01.2022 Over 80% of ovarian cancer patients experience recurrence and ultimately develop chemo-resistance. The OCRF is determined to provide a better future for women living with #ovariancancer. We have a strong focus on funding projects that can provide more effective, personalised ways of treating ovarian cancer. After promising initial results, the Precision Medicine project is ready to move into the next phase of clinical trials, but we need your help to ensure it can go ahead. 14.01.2022 The #WhiteShirtCampaign is an important opportunity for us to raise awareness of ovarian cancer in the wider community, whilst keeping research funding on the agenda for our government. We'd like to acknowledge our friends in Parliament who shared their messages of awareness and support on White Shirt Day. Thank you for your solidarity, standing up for women’s health. History has shown that when communities, government and the private sector join together, significant advance...s can be made in cancer survival. Cancers such as breast and cervical are evidence of the immense power of community awareness and sustained funding in lifting survival rates. Together we can make early detection a reality for ovarian cancer. Together we can change the story for future generations. Thank you to: Tanya Plibersek, Senator Sarah Hanson-Young, Katie Allen MP, Senator Jane Hume, Gladys Liu MP, Deborah O'Neill, Clare O'Neil MP, Celia Hammond MP, Senator Anne Ruston and Ged Kearney.

12.01.2022 On Saturday 8th of May we united around Australia for #WhiteShirtDay, marking World Ovarian Cancer Day. We took the opportunity to recognise the progress being made toward better outcomes for those diagnosed with ovarian cancer, whilst acknowledging the important path we have ahead. Every year, we are getting closer to making early detection for ovarian cancer a reality. The funds raised from the #WhiteShirtCampaign, from fundraisers, donors and White Shirt sales will e...nsure this research continues uninterrupted. Thank you to everyone who wore their white shirt, shared a post, started a conversation or bravely told their story, or the story of a loved one. We are so proud to see our community raising the bar and supporting research that will save lives. 11.01.2022 In 2015, after experiencing bloating, heartburn and other unusual symptoms, Charmaine Suter went for scans which revealed a borderline tumour on her left ovary measuring 15cm. In 2019, doctors found the tumour had returned, and this time it was both aggressive and cancerous. Despite enduring multiple surgeries and losing her left ovary, in Sept 2020, a tumour was found on her healthy right ovary and cancer cells had spread. Now, what Charmaine wants more than anything is more time. Time to spend with her loved ones, time feeling healthy, time to make a difference. All women living with ovarian cancer deserve more time, and precision medicine can help. Learn more here: https://bit.ly/3fQSgic

11.01.2022 #NationalVolunteerWeek The Pittmans are an integral part of the OCRF family. OCRF Ambassador Kel and husband Mark have shared their story openly and with such courage, in the name of raising awareness in their community and creating a better world for their daughter, Mollie. ... While Kel featured in this year's #WhiteShirtCampaign and held her annual White Shirt Day event at Beach Road Wines with 80 of her dearest friends, Mark also held his own fundraiser with friends and colleagues. Together their events raised over $11,000 for #ovariancancer research! As always, Kel's colleagues at St Peter's Woodlands Grammar School also showed their support by wearing their White Shirts at school. We thank The Pittman family and their passionate community for their dedication in supporting innovative ovarian cancer research. #ocrfcommunity

02.01.2022 This number is a tally of the lives we stand to lose to ovarian cancer over the next decade. This number is grandmothers, mothers, aunts, best friends, cousins, colleagues - people that deserve a greater chance of survival. The only way to stop that tally continuing to rise, and save these lives, is by funding more research into improved treatments and an early detection test. This is why The Lab exists - to save lives. 01.01.2022 Research out of the Hudson Institute in Melbourne has found a diabetes drug called sitagliptin can limit tumour growth, and possibly extend survival rates from epithelial ovarian cancer, which is the most common and dangerous type of ovarian cancer. The OCRF would like to congratulate Dr Amy Wilson on this exciting and innovative approach to improving #ovariancancer treatment. Read the article below.... Hudson Institute of Medical Research
